2024 Kings Stand Stakes Preview
Established in 1860, the Kings Stand Stakes was originally created due to the Royal Stand Plate not being able to be run due to heavy rain. The two miles race was replaced by this 5f race as it was the only part of the racecourse which was raceable.
The Group 1 race takes place on the opening day of Royal Ascot and is the top five-furlong race at the festival. The race is open to runners aged three years or older with three-year-old runners running off 8-12 and the older runners off 9-4, fillies and mares also get a 3lb allowance.
