Run on the final day of the five-day Royal Ascot meeting, the Wokingham Stakes is a Class 2 Heritage Handicap for three-year-olds and older over six furlongs.

With nearly 30 sprint handicappers spread across Ascot's straight-six furlongs, the Wokingham has proven devilishly difficult for punters to solve.

How competitive is the Wokingham Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2005 when the race had an over-round of 122%. The race in 2014 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 150%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Wokingham Stakes, the over-round has been 138%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £138 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2025 Wokingham Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Wokingham Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Wokingham Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Iffraaj (1:08.74) in 2005
  2. Cape Byron (1:11.72) in 2019
  3. Baccarat (1:12.09) in 2014

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Wokingham Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 2 winners. Backing all 18 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -11.00. Remember to bookmark the racing tips page to access the OLBG racing picks easily daily.

The runner that holds the record over the past 20 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2011 renewal when Deacon Blues from James Fanshawe under the guidance of Johnny Murtagh, won in a time of 1:16.90, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Iffraaj, trained by Michael Jarvis and ridden by Philip Robinson set the quickest time of 1:08.74 in the 2005 renewal.

What the expert says...
Iffraaj (2005) came to win this race after winning the Victoria Cup, a feat that was also achieved by Cape Byron (2019) so take note if the Victoria Cup winner comes here.
