2027 Hampton Court Stakes Preview

This race has been known under numerous names, previously the Tercentenary Stakes until it was changed to the Hampton Court Stakes in 2017. Previously run after the festival, the race is now part of Royal Ascot and runs on Thursday.

The race is a Group 3, having been upgraded from Listed status in 2011, which is open to three-year-olds and is run over just shy of one mile and two furlongs.

Runners who have previously won either a Group 1 or Group 2 are excluded from entering; any previous Group 3 winners get a 4lb penalty, whilst fillies get a 3lb allowance.

  3. Trinity College (2:04.30) in 2025

Whilst we wait for the 2027 Hampton Court Stakes, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 2:03.02 was set by Hunting Horn in 2018, trained by A P O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2011 when Pisco Sour won in a time of 2:11.84 for trainer Hughie Morrison, who booked Jimmy Fortune in the saddle.

What the expert says...
Two of the last three winners have come from the Chester May Meeting, with both of those running in the Dee Stakes. Jayarebe (2024) was 3rd before winning this, whilst Generic (2026) was runner-up.
