2022 Queen Mary Stakes Preview

Named after Queen Mary and established in 1921, the Queen Mary Stakes is a Group 2 race open to two-year-old fillies only, it is run over a trip of five furlongs and takes place in June of each year at the Royal Ascot meeting. It's a race where Sir Gordon Richards and Fred Darling have a great record, Darling won the race seven times between 1924-46, Richards rode five of those winners to success.

Why not use the trends shortlist below to help you narrow down the field and then head over to the dedicated Royal Ascot Betting Picks page to see which of those runners are being supported by the OLBG expert racing tipsters to find yourself a bet.

The runner that holds the record over the past 20 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2006 renewal when Gilded from Richard Hannon Snr who under the guidance of Richard Hughes, won in a time of 1:03.06, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Flashy Wings, trained by Mick Channon and ridden by Ted Durcan set the quickest time of 58.18 in the 2005 renewal.

These are the top three quickest run Queen Mary Stakes over the last 20 renewals:

  • 2005 - Flashy Wings (58.18)
  • 2014 - Anthem Alexander (59.15)
  • 2010 - Maqaasid (59.17)
