2026 Summer Mile Stakes Preview

Scheduled to take place in July of each year at the Ascot Racecourse is the Summer Mile Stakes. This race is a Group 2, which is contested as the name suggests over a mile, with runners aged four or older allowed to enter.

The race went from Listed to Group 3 status in 2003 and then, in 2006, was upped to a Group 2 and given its current title. Previously, it was known as the Silver Trophy Stakes.

What the expert says...
Those coming from the Queen Anne Stakes are usually worth a look, since 2007, eight of the winners have come from that race, although that is now only one of the last five.
