2025 Prix Jean Prat Preview
Established in 1858, the Prix Jean Prat is a Group 1 that takes place at the Deauville racecourse and is restricted to three-year-old colts and fillies. The race is contested over a distance of 1,400m which is around about seven furlongs on the turf.
This is the opening leg of a French series which is called the Prix Biennal, the second leg of the series is run at Longchamp and is the Group 2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier and that race features older runners instead of three-year-olds.
The race was originally run at Longchamp until being transferred to Chantilly in 1967 and the race was shortened to 1,800m. In 1985 the race was upgraded to a G1 and a year later in 1986, it returned to Longchamp, however, in 1995 it returned to Chantilly, reduced again to 1,600m and in 2019 it was again reduced, this time to the current distance of 1,400m and switched to Deauville.

What the expert says...
A run at Royal Ascot last time out could help point to the winner, four of the last six came from there with two of those running in the St James's Palace Stakes, a race which has provided six of the last eighteen winners with the other two running in the Coronation Stakes & Commonwealth Cup. The Prix Paul de Moussac (Longchamp) is another to watch as it has produced four winners including the last two.Prix Jean Prat Past Winners
