2025 Prix du Jockey Club Preview

Scheduled to take place in June of each year at the Chantilly racecourse is the Prix du Jockey Club, this Group 1 is the French equivalent to the Epsom Derby in which it is restricted to three-year-old colts and fillies who compete over a distance of one mile, two and a half furlongs (2,100m).

Established in 1836 after being inspired by the Epsom Derby, the race was initially restricted to only French horses and it wasn't until 1971 that foreign runners were allowed to enter, it was in 1982 when one of those first tasted success when David O'Brien's Assert won the race.

It's certainly worth keeping an eye on the future runs of those who win this race as they tend to go on to further success nine of the winners of this race have gone to win also win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
