2026 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches Preview

Scheduled to take place in May of each year at the Longchamp racecourse is the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. This race, a Group 1, is the French equivalent to Britain's 1000 Guineas. The race is restricted to three-year-old fillies who compete over a distance of one mile (1,600m).

The race features at Longchamp on the same day as the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, which is the equivalent of Britain's 2000 Guineas, and there has been limited success for the raiders in this race, with it being dominated by the homegrown French trainers. David Simcock won it in 2018, but other than that, since 2003, it has been all French success.
