2026 Chesham Stakes Preview

Run at the Royal Ascot festival in June of the year, the Chesham Stakes is a listed race for two-year-old runners which is run over a trip of seven furlongs.

Established in 1919, the race was originally run over five furlongs, then increased to six furlongs and has been run over the current length of seven furlongs since 1996.

There are not too many races where they are restricted based on their sire records; this one is! Runners sired by a stallion who won over one mile and two furlongs or further are only allowed to enter.

Chesham Stakes Information:

We cover every race at Royal Ascot, and below you can find links to all of the races for each of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. How competitive is the Chesham Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2008 when the race had an over-round of 105%. The race in 2016 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 127%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Chesham Stakes, the over-round has been 119%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £119 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Chesham Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Chesham Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Chesham Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

 1. Pinatubo (1:25.73) in 2019
 2. September (1:26.70) in 2017
 3. Sunny Way (1:26.93) in 2015

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Chesham Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 8 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -4.11. Before placing your bet on the 2026 Chesham Stakes, see which other runners today are being backed on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:25.73 was set by Pinatubo in 2019, which is the quickest time over that period. The runner was trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by James Doyle. The slowest winning time was set in 2011 when Maybe won in a time of 1:32.46, booked to ride was Ryan Moore by trainer A P O'Brien.

What the expert says...

You ideally want to be looking at a last time out winner, thirteen of the last twenty winners won last time out, including all of the last four and seven of the last eight.
