2026 Woodcote Stakes Preview

The Woodcote Stakes is a class two conditions race which is run at Epsom Racecourse in late May or early June.

Established way back in 1794, it's a race that is open to two-year-old runners, and it is run over six furlongs.

Plenty of the winners have gone on to run at Royal Ascot next time out, so keep an eye out later in the month.

For sponsorship purposes, the 2026 renewal of the Woodcote Stakes will hold the title of 'Oddschecker British EBF Woodcote Stakes'.

How competitive is the Woodcote Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2006, when the race had an over-round of 108%. The race in 2007 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 121%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Woodcote Stakes, the over-round has been 115%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £115 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Woodcote Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Woodcote Stakes Trend Analysis. With the field now finalised, we have the Woodcote Stakes Trend Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run Woodcote Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Chilworth Icon (1:08.43) in 2012
  2. Cardsharp (1:08.54) in 2017
  3. Buratino (1:08.82) in 2015

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Woodcote Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 4 winners. Backing all 20 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +2.50. Ahead of the 2026 Woodcote Stakes, why not head over to the racing predictions for tips on other races today?

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:08.43 was set by Chilworth Icon in 2012, trained by Mick Channon and ridden by Martin Harley, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2016 when Legendary Lunch won in a time of 1:13.55 for trainer Richard Hannon, who booked Pat Dobbs in the saddle.

What the expert says...
After Maximized's win in 2025, the run of last time out winners winning this race has extended to eight, with every winner since 2018 coming into it with a win last time out.
