2026 Tattenham Corner Stakes Preview

The Tattenham Corner Stakes is a new name for the race, which was previously known as the John Of Gaunt Stakes. Formerly run at Haydock, the race was switched to Epsom to run on the opening day of the Derby Meeting and is named after the famous bend at the track.

The race is open to runners aged four or older, it is contested over an extended seven furlongs (37 yards) and carries Group 3 status, having been upgraded in 2008 from a Listed race. Any group winners have to carry penalties with 7lb (G1), 5lb (G2) and 3lb (G3).

Because of the switch of track, please be careful with the trends; these are obviously based on races at Haydock, so they could prove less reliable than other races.

The race in 2025 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 123%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Tattenham Corner Stakes, the over-round has been 116%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £116 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Tattenham Corner Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Tattenham Corner Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Tattenham Corner Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Jumby (1:27.82) in 2023
  2. Amarillo (1:27.99) in 2013
  3. Dbai (1:28.24) in 2018

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Tattenham Corner Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 2 winners. Backing all 20 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -8.40. Remember to use the racing predictions along with the information on this page to find a bet on the 2026 Tattenham Corner Stakes.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:27.82 was set by Jumby in 2023, trained by Eve Johnson Houghton and ridden by Charles Bishop, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2019 when Safe Voyage won in a time of 1:36.23 for trainer John Quinn, who booked Jason Hart in the saddle.

What the expert says...
If you are looking for form coming out of this race, then the winners between 2005 & 2025 produced just two next time out winners! Even if you look at each winner's next three starts, they only produced four winners!
