2026 Surrey Stakes Preview

Established in 1995 under the name 'Vodacom Conditions Stakes', it was renamed the Surrey Stakes in 1998 when it was upgraded to a Listed race.

The race is open to three-year-old runners and is run over seven furlongs. The race is run at Epsom during the Derby Meeting in late May or early June.

For sponsorship purposes, the 2026 renewal of the Surrey Stakes will hold the title of 'Cygames Surrey Stakes'.

How competitive is the Surrey Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2021, when the race had an over-round of 108%. The race in 2009 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 119%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Surrey Stakes, the over-round has been 113%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £113 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Surrey Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Surrey Stakes Trend Analysis. With the field now finalised, we have the Surrey Stakes Trend Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run Surrey Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Safe Voyage (1:19.88) in 2020
  2. Olivia Maralda (1:21.03) in 2023
  3. Producer (1:21.48) in 2012

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Surrey Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 0 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -19.00. Before placing your bet on the 2026 Surrey Stakes, see which other runners today are being backed on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:19.88 was set by Safe Voyage in 2020, trained by John Quinn and ridden by Jason Hart, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2021 when Mehmento won in a time of 1:27.48 for trainer Archie Watson, who booked Hollie Doyle in the saddle.

What the expert says...
The winner tends to head to the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot next time out. Between 2006 & 2024, eleven winners did just that; however, their form in that race reads 80650900205!
