How competitive is the Thoroughbred Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2020 when the race had an over-round of 108%. The race in 2009 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 122%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Thoroughbred Stakes, the over-round has been 115%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £115 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2025 Thoroughbred Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Thoroughbred Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Thoroughbred Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

 1. Duke Of Hazzard (1:35.70) in 2019
 2. Lead Artist (1:35.82) in 2024
 3. Wannabe Yours (1:36.10) in 2014

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Thoroughbred Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 4 winners. Backing all 20 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -8.62. Remember to bookmark the racing tips page to access the OLBG racing picks easily daily.

The runner that holds the record over the past 20 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2009 renewal when Zacinto from Sir Michael Stoute under the guidance of Ryan Moore, won in a time of 1:41.30, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Duke Of Hazzard, trained by Paul Cole and ridden by P J McDonald set the quickest time of 1:35.70 in the 2019 renewal.

What the expert says...

Runners coming from the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes are worth noting, Beat The Bank (2017), Duke Of Hazzard (2019) and Baaeed (2021) all won that race before winning this, whilst the 2024 winner, Lead Artist, finished 3rd in it.
