How competitive is the Thoroughbred Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2025, when the race had an over-round of 107%. The race in 2009 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 122%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Thoroughbred Stakes, the over-round has been 115%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £115 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2027 Thoroughbred Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Thoroughbred Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Thoroughbred Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Shayem (1:35.05) in 2026
  2. Duke Of Hazzard (1:35.70) in 2019
  3. Lead Artist (1:35.82) in 2024

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Thoroughbred Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 4 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -7.62. Before placing your bet on the 2027 Thoroughbred Stakes, see which other runners today are being backed on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:35.05 was set by Shayem in 2026, trained by K R Burke and ridden by Clifford Lee, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2009 when Zacinto won in a time of 1:41.30 for trainer Sir Michael Stoute, who booked Ryan Moore in the saddle.

What the expert says...
Runners coming from the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes are worth noting, as six of the last ten winners have come from that race, including the winners in 2024, 2025 & 2026.
