2025 Oak Tree Stakes Preview

The Oak Tree Stakes is not one of the oldest races, but it attracts some top-class runners. Established in 1980, this Group 3 is open to fillies and mares who are three or older and is run over seven furlongs.

The race features on day four of the Glorious Goodwood festival in late July or early August, with three-year-old runners receiving a 6lb allowance from the older runners; however, previous group winners are penalised, with Group 1 (7lb), Group 2 (5lb) and Group 3 (3lb).

For sponsorship purposes, the 2025 renewal of the Oak Tree Stakes will hold the title of 'HKJC World Pool Oak Tree Stakes'.

How competitive is the Oak Tree Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2005 when the race had an over-round of 115%. The race in 2018 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 128%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Oak Tree Stakes, the over-round has been 120%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £120 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2025 Oak Tree Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Oak Tree Stakes Trend Analysis. With the field now finalised, we have the Oak Tree Stakes Trend Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run Oak Tree Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

 1. Billesdon Brook (1:23.75) in 2019
 2. Amy Eria (1:24.38) in 2015
 3. Raqiya (1:24.81) in 2024

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Oak Tree Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 5 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +18.48. Ahead of the 2025 Oak Tree Stakes, why not head over to the racing predictions for tips on other races today?

Over the last 20 renewals, it was Billesdon Brook, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey, who set the fastest winning time in the Oak Tree Stakes. That runner won the race in a time of 1:23.75 in 2019. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Kevin Stott with Magical Sunset who set the slowest winning time; the race-winning time was 1:33.18 in the 2023 renewal.

What the expert says...

Be cautious if you are looking to back a runner who won last time out, because the last winner of the Oak Tree Stakes who won last time out was Red Evie, way back in 2006!
