2026 Lillie Langtry Stakes Preview

Initially run under the name of the Gladness Stakes and a Listed race in 2003, the Lillie Langtry Stakes was upgraded to a Group 3 a year later in 2004 and given its current name. In 2018, it was upgraded once again and is now run as a Group 2.

The race is open to fillies and mares who are aged three or older and is run over one mile and six furlongs. It takes place on the final day of the Glorious Goodwood festival in late July or early August.

For sponsorship purposes, the 2026 renewal of the Lillie Langtry Stakes will hold the title of 'Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes'.

How competitive is the Lillie Langtry Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2020, when the race had an over-round of 106%. The race in 2015 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 125%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Lillie Langtry Stakes, the over-round has been 115%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £115 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Lillie Langtry Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Lillie Langtry Stakes Trend Analysis. With the field now finalised, we have the 2026 Lillie Langtry Stakes Runners & Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run Lillie Langtry Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Meeznah (2:57.61) in 2011
  2. Eastern Aria (2:58.05) in 2010
  3. Enbihaar (2:58.69) in 2019

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Lillie Langtry Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 7 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +9.93. Whilst we wait for the 2026 Lillie Langtry Stakes, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 2:57.61 was set by Meeznah in 2011, trained by David Lanigan and ridden by Frankie Dettori, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2023 when Sumo Sam won in a time of 3:17.66 for trainer Paul & Oliver Cole, who booked Tom Marquand in the saddle.

What the expert says...
The Park Hill Stakes at the St Leger festival has been the target of plenty of winners of this race. Between 2007 and 2025, a total of seven runners have gone directly to that race, and four of those have gone on to win it, the last to do so being Sumo Sam in 2023.
