2025 Abernant Stakes Preview

First introduced back in 1969 the Abernant Stakes is named after the sprinter Abernant who was successful in the 40s & 50s.

The race is a Group 3 open to three-year-old or older runners and is run over a straight six furlongs.

There is a 3lb allowance for fillies and mares whilst penalties for G1 (7lb), G2 (5lb) and G3 (3lb) winners in the past eight months.

Dick Hern's Boldboy won this race four times between 1974 & 1978, a feat no other runner has achieved.

The race can be a springboard to the Palace House Stakes or Duke of York Stakes for those who finish well.
