2025 Princess Royal Stakes Preview

The Princess Royal Stakes has undergone plenty of changes over the years, previously known as the 'Pride Stakes', the race had been run at Ascot but moved to Newmarket racecourse in 2008 and in 2017 was upgraded to a Group 3 status and currently features on the second day of the Cambridgeshire meeting in late September or early October.

The race is open to fillies and mares who are aged three or older and is run over a trip of one mile and four furlongs. Three-year-old runners receive a 7lb allowance from their older opponents (8-10 vs 9-3) whilst previous Group winners have to carry a penalty of 7lb (G1), 5lb (G2) and 3 lbs (G3).
