The 2021 Cambridgeshire Meeting
The Cambridgeshire Meeting is a three-day 'festival' which takes place at the Rowley Mile course at Newmarket each year in late September and can run into early October. Over the three days of racing, there is a total of twenty-two races, ten of those are class one races with Saturday, the final day of the meeting being the highlight of the three days and a chance to see the progress of the youngsters with five of the seven races being restricted to two-year-old runners.
The highlight on the opening day is the Tattersall Stakes, a Group 3 race for two-year-old colts and geldings, a race where runners who ran in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster are worth a second look and plenty have gone on to win this race after running at Doncaster. There are three group races on Friday, the Princess Royal Stakes (G3), the Rockfel Stakes (G2) and the Joel Stakes (G2) and is a day to keep an eye on both John Gosden (x11) and William Haggas (x8), the pair has combined for a total of nineteen winners on the Friday from just forty-two races, backing all of their runners on this day would have produced an LSP of +101.63
Moore & Dettori Factor
Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori have a combined total of twenty winners ridden on Friday of the meeting, that is ten wins apiece, backing all of their rides over the last ten years on Friday would have resulted in an LSP of +42.05.
The final day of the meeting is the day that everyone looks forward to as it features the race of the meeting, the Cambridgeshire Handicap, a race which spans two counties, it starts in Cambridgeshire and ends in Suffolk! Its a day when you can see which two-year-olds have progressed over the season and which ones go into the tracker for their three-year-old season as we have the Royal Lodge Stakes (G2), Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) and the Middle Park Stakes (G1), three group races which are all restricted to two-year-old runners. Aidan O'Brien is a man to keep an eye on for the final day, not only does he lead the number of winners (9) but shows a 21% strike rate and an LSP of +38.35 to go along with that!
Over the three-days remember to head over to the best horse racing tipsters page to see what those tipsters are backing at Newmarket, these are tipsters who have open tips and have shown a profit over the past twelve months.
