Established in 1946 and scheduled to take place in late September or early October of each year at the Newmarket racecourse is the Royal Lodge Stakes, a Group 2 race, is open to two-year-old colts and geldings and is run over a straight mile, where previous Group 1 or 2 winners have to carry a 3lb penalty.
