How competitive is the July Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2026, when the race had an over-round of 107%. The race in 2007 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 124%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the July Stakes, the over-round has been 115%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £115 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2027 July Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the July Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run July Stakes races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Arcano (1:10.53) in 2009
  2. Lusail (1:10.57) in 2021
  3. Zavateri (1:10.80) in 2025

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the July Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 8 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +12.63. Whilst we wait for the 2027 July Stakes, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

Over the last 20 renewals, it was Arcano, trained by Brian Meehan and ridden by Martin Dwyer, who set the fastest winning time in the July Stakes. That runner won the race in a time of 1:10.53 in 2009. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer Richard Hannon Snr and jockey Paul Hanagan with Alhebayeb who set the slowest winning time; the race-winning time was 1:14.39 in the 2012 renewal.

What the expert says...
Seven of the last eleven winners ran at Royal Ascot last time out, with four of those running in the Coventry, three of which finished runner-up in the Coventry before coming and winning the July Stakes.
