2025 Mares Novices Hurdle Preview

In July 2015 it was announced that the Cheltenham Festival would be benefiting from a new novice hurdle race restricted to just mares and fillies with the introduction of the Dawn Run Mares Novice Hurdle.

This Grade 2 race is run over 2m1f on the new course and it is expected that Willie Mullins, who has dominated the Mares' Hurdle previously sponsored by OLBG, will be the trainer to follow, especially after winning the inaugural event with Limini and then the following four renewals with Let's Dance (2017), Laurina (2018), Eglantine Du Seuil (2019) and Concertista (2020).

The first six winners of this race all ran in Ireland before coming here, however, the tide is turning with the last three all running in the UK, two of those won the Jane Seymour Mares Novices Hurdle at Sandown before winning this.
