The race is run under the current name of the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle Trial and as it suggests is a trial for the Triumph Hurdle at the festival. Established in 1985 and registered as the Finesse Juvenile Novices Hurdle, the race is open to runners aged four or older and is run over a distance of two miles and one furlong, it is run on trials day at Cheltenham.
