Scheduled to take place in January during trials day of each year at the Cheltenham racecourse is the Classic Novices Hurdle which is run over a distance of two miles, four and a half furlongs and is open to runners ages four or older who are novice hurdlers.

In terms of future form, the race serves as a trial for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle and the last eight winners of the race went on to run in that race next time out and only At Fishers Cross (2013) was successful in that race.
