You know how punters get lost in too much data or bet blindly? I break down the stats and trends so you can feel confident you’re betting with more than just gut instinct.

2026 Sky Bet Mile Handicap Preview

This Mile Heritage Handicap is scheduled to take place on Friday at the York Ebor Festival. It is, as the name would suggest,  contested over a mile and it is restricted to three-year-old runners only.

For sponsorship purposes, the 2026 renewal of the Ebor Mile Heritage Handicap will hold the title of 'Sky Bet Mile Handicap'.

A low draw is key
The draw is the dominant factor in this competitive mile handicap. Eight of the last ten winners came from stalls one to five, and not one has been successful from a double-figure berth despite consistently large fields of up to seventeen runners. Those held wide clearly face a much tougher task, so a low draw is a significant advantage worth weighing heavily. Focus on the well-drawn contenders towards the inside before this year's renewal.

With the field now finalised, we have the 2026 Ebor Mile Heritage Handicap Runners & Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run Ebor Mile Heritage Handicap races over the last 13 renewals:

  1. Pogo (1:34.95) in 2019
  2. Mr Ascendency (1:36.01) in 2021

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 13 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Ebor Mile Heritage Handicap next time out, then you would have backed a total of 2 winners. Backing all 13 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +19.00. Remember to use the racing predictions along with the information on this page to find a bet on the 2026 Ebor Mile Heritage Handicap.

The runner that holds the record over the past 13 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2014 renewal when Master The World from David Elsworth under the guidance of Kieren Fallon, won in a time of 1:39.27, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Pogo, trained by Charles Hills and ridden by Kieran Shoemark set the quickest time of 1:34.95 in the 2019 renewal.
