Yes, if you are over the age of 21 and located within the state boundaries of Indiana you can legally bet on sports with any of the licensed sportsbooks at the casinos or online.

Mobile sports betting has been legal in Indiana since May 2019. Each of the state's 15 land-based venues may apply for licenses to run sportsbooks under the new sports betting legislation. If granted, they can then run legal online sportsbooks with 3 partners each alongside any retail sportsbooks already operating

There are some restraints in sports betting law, such as betting on esports or amateur athletes under 18 is not legal. However, unlike some countries and states, in-play wagering is legal in Indiana on Sports betting apps. This shouldn't hinder your online sports betting experience, however.

    *Sports Wagering Tax

With a population of just under 7 million the sports betting market size for Indiana Residents could be healthy enough. However, as we have seen in other legalised sports betting states, there is huge opportunity for cross border activity.

The densely populated Chicago has easy access to cross the Indiana border and therefore will attract plenty of sports wagering until Illinois opens up its form of legalized sports betting. Currently, within Illinois you must visit a land based establishment to register a mobile sports betting app. The roll out there appears to be slow. So many find it far easier just to cross over to Indiana and register a sports betting account online if the location is suitable.

Ohio, and Kentucky aren't too far away for Indiana boundaries either so the cross-border activity will significantly boost the numbers until neighboring states catch up. Michigan though launched at the end of 2019 and has an attractive legal sports betting market. If you are close to Michigan borders you could also consider having MI betting apps, there is a nice list of Michigan sportsbook promos here

In September 2019 the state sportsbooks posted $91.7m in handle and $11.5m in revenue. In the first four months of legal wagering in Indiana, some $436million was wagered. Not bad for early days with very few online sportsbooks then live in Indiana.

There was naturally a dip when sports were canceled due to Covid but wagering bounced back following the break with more than $143m wagered online during August 2020.

  • Indiana Sports Betting Deposit Methods

In recent times it has been decreed that to open an online sportsbook account and to make deposits and withdrawal, you do not need to make a physical, in-person visit to a casino.

Great news and real help in being able to fully manage your online sportsbook account at your own convenience.

The even better news is there are a whole host of ways to make deposits and withdrawals

    Credit & Debit Cards

Whilst credit cards are widely accepted we would advise using credit to fund your wagering accounts, especially if you do not have the funds to make a full repayment within the month. Betting with money you do not have is worse than betting with money you can not afford. Please see our guide to responsible gambling for more information.

Debit cards are a far better option, funds are available instantly in most cases. Withdrawals will often be processed by the sportsbook within 24 hours using this method, but depending on your bank, it could take up to 5 working days to receive your funds back to your physical account.

For quicker withdrawal methods, read on.

    Prepaid Cards

Quite often sportsbooks and casinos offer their own branded pre paid cards. You can load them up and make deposits and withdrawals with them quickly and be able to access the cash from ATMS. A superb addition to online money management that works seamlessly with most betting sites in Iowa

Will There be More Methods like EWallets Added?

Indiana deposit methods for sportsbooks are regulated by the Indiana Gaming Commission who must approve all deposit methods used. The IGC seems open to expanding the methods available so we could see more deposit methods coming for Indiana Sports Betting in the future.

Some banks are still blocking all deposits to online betting sites. Many people have found that they have needed to try different deposit methods such as ACH transfers to avoid the debit card part of the process. If you have any issues, contact your Indiana sportsbook customer services who will be able to talk you through the best methods for you.

So some banks may have an ethical stance on using them to fund your online gambling account with money, but prepaid cards and eWallet solutions are generally available in the Hoosier State to make things easy for players.

Other forms of deposit methods for Indiana Sportsbooks will vary by provider but include

    ACH Wire Transfer

Using a bank transfer can be a convenient way of funding your betting account. Do check for fees however, which may vary by bank, and transactions can sometimes take time to clear on both deposits and withdrawals

    eWallet Solutions

E-Wallets for depositing and withdrawing from your mobile betting account include well-known brands such as PayPal, Neteller and Skrill. instant deposits and withdrawals within 24 hours re typical and in most cases, there are no fees to be paid. Double check if you want to make multiple transactions this way, as fees can be introduced if this method is abused.

    Minimum Deposit & Maximum Withdrawals

You'll find all sportsbooks will have a minimum deposit requirement, but they are in the main around $10 so not prohibitive.

Also, be aware of when using deposit methods if any negate the qualification of welcome bonuses. Also, check Wagering requirements of any offer.

Being able to make deposits online also negates the necessity of a visit to a physical sportsbook to make a cash deposit.
