Betrino is very stripped back. To me, it’s clear that they have decided to focus solely on a few sports and try to do them as best they can. As a result, the number of sports listed is far fewer than most other bookies, and there are fewer markets per sport. If you are someone who likes betting on a few different things then you’re better off elsewhere.

Betrino feels as though it’s for people who just like betting on one or two things, want decent odds, and don’t want to overcomplicate the types of bets that they make. It’s a small, dedicated bookie that’s not for everyone but definitely has a target market, rather than a scattergun approach.

First Impression of Betrino

My First Impressions

This is much smaller than most sportsbooks in the UK. While most will have a large menu of sports that you can select from, there are far fewer here. Whereas most bookies have their top sports, and you open a dropdown, or click through, to find more, the menu you see at Betrino is all the sports available. These are: football, cricket, rugby, ice hockey, basketball and one esport title; League of Legends.

Live Betting

On the homepage all the in-play betting options can be found thanks to the small green “LIVE” icons that slowly flash on and off. These will take you directly to the relevant markets where you can bet accordingly. Betrino doesn’t offer any live streaming at the time of this review.

Betting Odds

For a relatively lightweight bookie, definitely in terms of the number of sports covered, the odds are actually better than I was expecting. I went through some in-play games for football and cricket, as well as some pre-match fixtures for basketball and rugby, and overall the odds are not bad at all. You will be able to find slightly better value here and there, depending on the event, but generally this is one of the strong points of Betrino.

Also, remember that it is always worth checking alternative betting options, including best spread betting sites and betting exchange sites, depending on who you are as a bettor.

Betting App or Mobile Site 

As mentioned, there is no Betrino app, so this will strictly focus on the mobile version of the site. This sounds obvious, but the mobile version works very much like you’d expect an app to. Maybe the reason for not having one is how the mobile version of the site has been designed, because things like the menu placement, navigation and product features suggest that this is absolutely a mobile-first bookie. ⚽ Football Betting

We rank every bookie, at every sport, and Betrino is just a bit off our best football betting sites in the UK, but it’s still very good. There are plenty of games listed, including domestic leagues in South America and Asia, and even some very minor, lower league friendlies, too, and this is obviously on top of the likes of the Premier League, Bundesliga and LaLiga. As mentioned above, probably the strongest part of this offering is the odds themselves.

Bet Builder 

As much as I try I can’t find a dedicated bet builder feature. Now, you can add multiple bets from an event into a multiple, or opt for some of the pre-made combos, which essentially does the same thing as a bet builder, but isn’t quite as you’d like. Even though the result is pretty much the same, it feels like a miss.

As well as the welcome offer that you automatically activate when you sign up and make your first deposit, the main advantage of Betrino is its rewards programme. This ensures regular users get more and more from the product, so the more you play, the more rewards you get to choose from..

🏇 Horse Racing

The horse racing at Betrino is pretty good. The layout displays all the information that you need, and that you’d expect from a good racing bookie. The odds are right where you want and there’s a choice between Winner, Forecast and Tricast markets. Betrino displays odds changes from the day and markets for meets and courses far beyond just the UK and Ireland, including Argentina, South Africa and the United States. On the downside there is no live streaming of any races, no tips and no Best Odds Guaranteed, but it’s quite a solid offering overall. A full range of American Sports is available, including all the major leagues, plus college games and the same sports across the globe.

🏈 American Football Betting

The American football betting at Betrino is okay. In terms of product design, it’s exactly what you want, with moneyline, spread and total markets all listed on the main page, before all other markets once you click on a specific game. There are some outrights listed, but there are some things missing here. There’s next to nothing when it comes to player props, and in terms of outrights, nothing in the way of player markets again, so no MVP odds, Defensive Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year and so on. In conclusion, it starts well, but tapers off a bit the longer you’re there. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how Betrino compares. 

🏀 Basketball Betting

Betrino has a brilliant selection of basketball leagues to bet on, there are hundreds and hundreds of competitions. There’s obviously the NBA, but Betrino covers a wide range of EuroLeague and domestic world competitions, including competitions in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Morocco and Libya, among others. There are also plenty of markets per game, with game, team and player markets covered impressively. Take the WNBA, for example, with a fantastic range of markets – match, halves/quarters, points, player probs on points, rebounds, assists etc. – right across the board. It’s quite impressive. ⚾ Baseball Betting

Betrino obviously covers the MLB, but they also have markets for the Dutch, Japanese, Mexican and Korean leagues. The markets, and the odds, especially on the outrights, look pretty good. The MLB season is well underway and there are loads of things to bet on, including individual awards, which aren’t represented here unfortunately, but the number of markets per game is good enough. 🏒 Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some Australian, Finnish and German fixtures included, among others. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed – more than pretty much anywhere else. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. It’s quite nice to see some odds on the NHL Draft, also, that’s definitely something that you won’t get everywhere.

🐕 Greyhound Betting

This isn’t bad, although we’ve already mentioned that Betrino doesn’t have Best Odds Guaranteed or live streaming, so it may struggle to attract punters for greyhounds specifically given how many other bookies do, especially for live streaming. Beyond that there markets for all races today in the UK and Ireland, with Winner, Trap Winner and Forecast options available. It’s pretty solid, without being anything more than that, and a bit off the best greyhound betting sites.

Betrino does some very good things here, compared to other darts betting sites in the UK. The outrights on future events are great, and once you click through to the match ups the number of markets is probably more than most. Most major competitions are covered – there’s outright markets on the World Championships, despite it being way off – and each match has markets for result, legs, checkouts and handicaps.

The Championship League has a number of markets per match, offering frame handicaps and points markets on top of result. There are also outrights for events later in the year. This is pretty good, doing as much as it should, even if it doesn’t blow me away.

For both, there is pretty much every competition that you’d want to be included here, which is really good to see. The one omission to that is the Japanese domestic league (in Union), but that’s being very nit-picky, because overall the coverage of competitions is fantastic. Betrino offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus a couple of extras that I wasn’t with some domestic events and leagues all over the globe. I also really like how many markets are available here for each game, assuming it’s not miles away in the future before teams are announced etc. Take the player markets, for example. For most matches you’ll get top batter, top bowler (plus the same again per team), man of the match, player to score a 50/100 and individual player markets for the top players. For matches that are a bit of a way off, there are still some good futures and antepost markets to take advantage of, even if the number of markets per game drops off a little, but overall I’m pretty happy with the cricket betting here.

🎾 Tennis Betting

By James Banting - At the time of review their tennis section has nearly 200 different tennis markets to bet on, which is great. These games obviously cover the world, with the Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are good, and there’s plenty of markets, and that includes in-play markets. There’s no live streaming,and pretty limited stats, which is a bit disappointing given a lot of bookies have these things as standard for tennis especially. Everything here is split up on the main menu nav bar, so Formula 1, Speedway, NASCAR, motorbikes, plus a few others all have their own homes which is fine generally, but feels a little bit messy here. For Formula 1, this is better than a lot of other bookies, with plenty to bet on for the upcoming Grand Prix next weekend, and this is on top of outrights. What’s particularly good are the markets for practice and qualifying, which are far greater than other bookies. You’ll also find Formula E, Supercars, plus other motorsports mentioned above, and these diminish quite quickly in terms of coverage, which is fair enough.

There’s a decent enough amount of boxing to get stuck into here, and the markets look dependent on how far away the actual fight is. Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have an okay offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s understandable, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away, but I would definitely like more options for big bouts this weekend, and that’s definitely limited based on my experience with Betrino.

This is essentially split into UK and US politics, with a decent amount on the General Election, next party leaders and majority, but nothing in terms of It’s a similar offering for the US, but there is nothing from anywhere else around the globe apart from one market for the Republic or Ireland.

Be aware that the markets here are divvied up under TV Shows and Movies. The former has a couple of markets on awards ceremonies like BBC Sports Personality of the Year, while the TV and Movie betting focuses on events like X Factor in Italy and Denmark. There’s nothing in the way of the Oscars or BAFTAs but it’s not awards season and I can see them adding to this depending on seasonality. It’s reassuringly not very UK-centric – although there some British markets – which is good to see.

BritainBet does have casino, which is incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. Account Opening Process

A easy process. At the top-right of the screen Betrino has their “Register” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

As I mentioned above, Betrino has no app, but that actually doesn’t matter because a lot of extra focus has clearly been invested into the mobile version of the site. It works really well and makes the need for an app somewhat redundant (you can just bookmark the page if you like). The nav bars are in different places (along the bottom rather than down the left-hand side, for example), with the intention of making things feel more intuitive on a smaller screen. It works really well and I’d definitely recommend using the mobile version whenever possible. 

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to Betrino I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer. 

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like Betrino has got this part nailed.

Responsible Gambling Features

You can set your deposit limit while you’re signing up; long before you’ve got close to actually making a bet. 

There is also a Settings tab at the bottom of the page, no matter what page you’re on, that allows you to make changes to limits, as well as odds formats, or odds change preferences/notifications.
