First Impression of Betway

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This review will reflect the service offered at the specific point in time. I signed up on the desktop version of Betway, but also used the mobile version to compare, as well as the Betway app.

Betway Live Betting

When it comes to live in-play betting Betway ranks on our list of best bookies, offering great options when it comes to in-play action. With full statistics, line-ups, and standings offered on their in-play pages there are plenty of different things available to help the bettor with picking in-play bets.

A better variety of in-play action and streaming access may be needed to put Betway at the very top of the list of best bookmakers for in-play betting but it’s still an excellent part of the Betway product.

Betway Live Streaming

Live streaming is available on the Betway site and app for horse racing, assuming you have placed a bet on the race. To watch a race you must place a £2 minimum bet, either a single of each way bet to be specific. There is also live streaming for greyhounds, also. Betway Live Streaming is available on desktop and mobile, you simply need to have a funded account.

Betway Betting Odds

You can see from our data, when it comes to betting on American football, Betway has the single best odds in the country. Beyond that, Betway is regularly one of the best places to find long odds for sports such as tennis, rugby union, baseball, football and basketball.

By James Banting - The single best cricket betting site in the UK is Betway. With all things considered, Betway’s offering pips the rest of the pack. It covers all the major tournaments and regularly has some of the best odds and the best variety of markets. You can get odds boosts on specific bets, and supporting stats are displayed alongside. The only downside is that it doesn’t offer live streaming, but given the rest of the setup, it’s hard to do better.

Betway Tennis Betting

Obviously there are the Grand Slams, but also every tournament on the ATP and WTA tours, as well as Davis Cup, Fed Cup and Challenger Series, as well as even smaller tournaments. And, although it probably doesn’t need saying, this applies to in-play betting, as well as pre-match stuff. Generally the odds here are really good, and definitely a consideration when placing tennis bets. 

Betway Golf Betting

Aside from the Ryder Cup and the four Majors, all of which are being played next year, there are the likes of LIV Golf Events that I’d expect to see, and a number of smaller events – Andalucia Masters, BMW Ladies Championship, plus a few more. Also, the odds are better than most so I’ll keep Betway in mind when the majors roll around.

Betway Motorsports Betting

It’s still better than most, but not at the very top. Very few bookmakers run motorsport specific promotions (more of that later) but despite that, there are good opportunities at Betway to take advantage of general promotions and use them betting on motorsport. It’s something to definitely bear in mind when shopping around.

Political Betting

While the site is easy to navigate, one thing that lets it down is a hang-up from sports betting, signposting various markets as “leagues” which can be a little confusing. It’s a minor quibble, however, because the actual product on offer is very good, especially its “In the Spotlight” tabs, which rotate particular markets at varying times.

Entertainment and Specials

As an overall package it’s not with the absolute best but you’ll find markets here that may not be anywhere else, or at least will be hard to locate on other bookmakers. In particular, the offering on UK TV programmes to bet on is greater than most, and novelty bets on current affairs can also be found.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

The Betway site and app both have a similar layout with the black and green colours staying consistent throughout the platform. Betway's design is well-structured and the design overall is efficient despite its interface absolutely crammed full of info. I found myself using the app over the desktop more and more, which is no sleight on the desktop version, but the app definitely feels more intuitive. Our user reviews point towards the reliability of the site being impressive plus the app being good due to the fast sign in process on there.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to Betway I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed. Placing a bet on Betway is straightforward with the betslip instantly appearing on your screen when you click a selection.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really makes this tick. On the desktop version, it’s stuff left and right of screen (menu and search to the left, account and bets to the right). On the app, it’s at the bottom, with search, account and bets at the top, with a main nav bar at the bottom that can get you to different sports, in-play options and casino (plus return to the home page).

Betway Responsible Gambling Features

As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided. Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.

You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.

Betway Review Summary 

Overall, Betway is one of the best bookmakers available in the UK. As mentioned, they make our top 10 for 10 different categories – an absolutely huge amount that very few other bookmakers can compete with. 

A huge part of this is down to the markets offered, the consistency of their odds and their dedication to covering sports properly. They are fantastic for cricket, and US sports, particularly baseball and American football. This is carried on through to esports, which is one the best parts of Betway’s product, and one of the best places to bet on the sport in the country. 

Lastly, Betway is brilliant and has a couple of specific features that are integral to a good betting membership. One of these is its bet builder function, which is excellent, but the other is their Free Bets Club, which treats existing, loyal customers brilliantly, rather than signing people up and forgetting about them.
