Gladiator 2's release sees bookmakers offer odds on how it will open at the Box Office

The highly anticipated sequel to Gladiator will be released in November and betting sites are now offering betting odds on how successful the movie will be at the US Box Office.

US' domestic market is one of the biggest indicators of a film's success and a strong performance on the opening weekend for the film could highlight how big it'll be worldwide.

Latest odds make it 10/11 that the movie makes more than $125m in its opening weekend which is the line currently offered by bookmakers ahead of the film's release.

Gladiator 2 hitting $125m in its opening weekend in the US would put it in the Top 50 openings of all-time with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 currently 48th with $125,017,372 made.

Avengers: Endgame had the biggest opening weekend of all-time in the US with $357,115,007 made at the Box Office and the new Gladiator movie will have to have a massive showing to get anywhere near that.

Long awaited sequel set to be released in November this year

Gladiator 2 is currently pencilled in for a November 22 release date this year with the Ridley Scott directed sequel looking to copy the success of the first movie.

The original Gladiator is regularly mentioned in the conversations around the best films of all time with the movie winning Best Picture and Best Actor (for Russell Crowe's performance) at the 73rd Academy Awards.

Paul Mescal will play the main role in the movie with the Irish actor set to become a massive name in Hollywood if the film follows the success of the first one.

Further specials also look into the goriness of the movie

The first Gladiator movie sees Russell Crowe's character Maximus put on a show for the Roman crowd asking them "Are you not entertained?" after fighting in the arena.

With a total of 130 deaths shown throughout the film it's definitely not one for the faint-hearted and bookies are offering odds on a similar level of deaths in Gladiator 2.

The current betting market offered looks at the total number of deaths shown in the opening 10 minutes of the movie with Ridley Scott potentially kicking off the film with a bloodbath.

Latest odds say there's a 36.4% chance that we see more than 11 deaths in the first 10 minutes of the film with a quiet start of 0 deaths shown during the opening the current favourite.
