Full LeoVegas Bookmaker Review

LeoVegas has a couple of holes that need plugging if it wants to compete with the absolute best in the industry, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t do a few things really well.

On top of that, there are some other parts, maybe slightly more niche, that are definitely worth highlighting, such as their political betting and their TV & Novelty section – there are absolutely markets here that you’ll not find elsewhere. The pre-packs and bet builder features, being able to use those across multiple sports, is fantastic, and generally the odds are pretty impressive, but you do need to consider a couple of negatives.

In certain places there is a lack of market depth in some sports, even if the event coverage is good, and there is definitely a lack of promotions. However, LeoVegas has definitely improved consistently since it arrived, and I’d expect that to continue, making it a very good sportsbook option overall.

LeoVegas Review Summary

Ignore the casino focus and enjoy the myriad of betting options, particularly TV & Novelty.

Advantages and Disadvantages

All explained in greater detail in this review, these pros and cons allow users to scan and understand where LeoVegas' strengths lie quickly.

Pros

  • Great Acca Boosts

  • Amazing for TV & Novelty betting
  • Brilliant In-Play Club

Cons

  • Lacks market depth for certain sports

Who are LeoVegas?

LeoVegas launched in the UK in 2012. If you’ve used BetUK you’ll recognise the platform and the product. Despite the name, and the obvious casino focus, the sportsbook is a popular one.

  • Established in 2012

  • LeoVegas Gaming PLC

  • UKGC licence number - 39198

First Impression of LeoVegas

Everything here is very clean. The slightly off-white background and minimal orange branding leaves a clear, simple platform that is easy to navigate, while the menu and drop downs are well thought-out. As well as BetUK, BetMGM Sports also uses the same platform (despite being separate companies), and it works in much the same way.

Live Betting

The live betting at LeoVegas is pretty good. They have a “In-Play” part of the menu that takes you to all their in-play markets, and the usual selection of football, cricket, tennis, plus a few others was there when I looked. Odds seem good enough, but there is one nice little feature that I haven’t seen elsewhere. LeoVegas has “Instant Betting” options. These are bets that are going to settled the earliest. So, for example, if it’s 20 minutes into a football game, LeoVegas will offer markets here that’ll be done by half-time in the same game. You can check if they make it into our best bookmakers for in-play betting here.

Live Streaming

As it stands LeoVegas offers live streaming on horse racing and greyhound racing, specifically UK and Irish meets.

Betting Odds

After looking through some comparison sites – OddsChecker and a few others – as well as a further look across alternative bookmakers, it looks like the odds offered at LeoVegas are good, but not market-leading. We checked football, cricket and basketball for in-play odds, plus horse racing and a few other sports for pre-match stuff. They’re very competitive and, crucially, because they have some sports that other bookies don’t, you’ll find odds for niche sports here that you won’t elsewhere.

Also, remember that it is always worth checking alternative betting options, including best spread betting sites and betting exchange sites, depending on who you are as a bettor.

⚽ Football Betting

LeoVegas offers a very broad range of football markets, with odds that are competitive. There’s obviously the major leagues and competitions, but bettors can also find domestic leagues as varied as Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Costa Rica. There is a good range, but it wouldn’t be right up with the very best. There are also some decent promotions running that are football-specific. We rank every bookie, at every sport, and LeoVegas is just a bit off our best football betting sites in the UK, but it’s still very good.

You can see in the chart below, in greater detail, why certain bookies rank among the top for football betting sites, and what LeoVegas is up against.

Bet Builder

There’s a good amount of markets within their bet builder feature, not loads, but good enough. I would  like to see a few more (there are no player fouls committed, or player tackles), but to be honest, these might be added closer to the time. On top of the bet builder, there are also Pre-Packs – small, pre-made bet builders of two to five legs that people can take advantage of.

Bonuses

As well as the welcome offer there are a few different promotions to take advantage of. LeoVegas’s punters can get a 50% profit boost on any seven-leg acca, with a max stake of £20, and this on top of two £3 free bets and two £5 free bet builders every week. It’s also worth checking out their “Specials” in the menu, which will take you straight to a selection of boosted markets.

Cash Out

Cash out is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. LeoVegas have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

🏇 Horse Racing

The horse racing section at LeoVegas is pretty good. The odds are competitive enough, and the market coverage is great – South Africa, the US, France, Australia and more on top of UK and Irish meets. That said, there isn’t much in the way of promotions, which is a bit disappointing to see. LeoVegas also has BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed). This is on all UK racing, with multiples included. Unfortunately it’s only from 11:00am, but the good news is that their cap is set at £10,000.This isn’t bad at all, and you can see how they compare to our top 10 best horse racing betting sites.

🇺🇸 US Sports Betting

A full range of American Sports is available, including all the major leagues, plus college games and the same sports across the globe.

🏈 American Football Betting

LeoVegas offers amazing odds on NFL, NCAA and CFL games. They are as good as the others in this list and definitely should be a port of call when hunting for the best value and getting ahead of line changes. What will determine whether as a punter you go for LeoVegas over the likes of some bookies ranked higher than them is the fact that they don’t have great cash out options, but do offer acca insurance. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how LeoVegas compares.

🏀 Basketball Betting

There’s a pretty good selection of leagues here in terms of global coverage. There’s obviously the NBA, but LeoVegas covers a wide range of EuroCup, FIBA tournaments and similar. There are also events in Argentina, Bulgaria, Israel, The Philippines and more. There are some limited player props on top of the expected markets, but it is nice to see that their Pre-Packs are used here (and in other sports), and not just football. You can also compare LeoVegas to the best basketball betting sites.

⚾ Baseball Betting

There’s no MLB season as it stands, which means that most betting sites in the UK have got very little to offer here, but LeoVegas is different. There are plenty of outrights and futures for the upcoming MLB season, with league winners, division winners, and a bunch of player markets. It’s actually quite refreshing to see. Keep tabs on the top baseball betting sites though, to see why they make it onto our list.

🏒 Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some Australian, Finnish and German fixtures included, among others. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed – more than pretty much anywhere else. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. It’s quite nice to see some odds on the NHL Draft, also, that’s definitely something that you won’t get everywhere.

🐕 Greyhound Betting

There’s live streaming on most UK races, and there is also Best Odds Guaranteed for greyhounds from 11:00am. I’d say of all the meets listed on LeoVegas, probably about three-quarters had live streaming as an option. Overall, the odds seem pretty good for antepost stuff, so definitely worth checking out and coming back to when you can. It’s pretty solid, without being anything more than that, and a bit off the best greyhound betting sites.

🎯 Darts Betting

Matthew Edgar

LeoVegas is a pretty decent option. The immediate feeling that you get when landing on LeoVegas’s site or app, is how easy and clean everything feels. In the darts section there are loads of pre-match and in-play markets on offer, and all have supporting statistics adding an extra layer to your darts betting, in addition to commentary and form guides. LeoVegas have clearly made a conscious decision to work on their darts offering and it absolutely shows.

Snooker Betting

There are markets for a few different tournaments, including the World Championships, the Masters and World Grand Prix. LeoVegas are starting to muscle in on quite a few of our top 10s, showing the industry that they are absolutely a bookmaker that you should have an account with. Their in-play service for snooker is a real standout, while you can get some snooker free bets depending on the tournament in question.

🏉 Rugby Betting (Union & League)

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This is okay from LeoVegas. Of course there are Six Nations outrights, alongside the Gallagher Premiership, Champions Cup, URC and Top 14, but it basically stops there. Other bookies will provide markets for the French D2,or Japanese league, but there’s none of that here. Within games there is also a disappointing selection in markets, with only five or six per match.  See how they compare to our best Rugby betting sites.

🏏 Cricket Betting

James Banting

James Banting

This is generally pretty good. Ideally I’d like to see some more events covered, but there’s a decent amount regardless. The odds are really good, and this is probably somewhere I will return to for my cricket betting, but that’s only if the markets are listed, because there are definitely some missing here that I could find elsewhere.

We list the 10 best cricket betting sites here.

🎾 Tennis Betting

By James Banting - Overall, I think the tennis betting at LeoVegas is decent. There are some competitions beyond the Slams, as this goes down to Challenger and ITF level. I actually like the way you can select the level first – Grand Slam, Challenger, ITF and so on – and then get a selection of tournaments from there. If they could add in more markets, and some tennis-specific promotions, they’d definitely be closer to getting into the best tennis betting sites on OLBG.

🏌️ Golf Betting

By James Banting - I really like the set up for golf betting (and it looks the same for thor sports on LeoVegas, too). There’s a menu that lists different categories, such as Majors, PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Team Events and so on. Selecting those then takes you to the tournaments offered. The odds are great, but there’s no promotions to speak of, so if they could do some more, that would be great. It’s worth checking our best golf betting sites to see how LeoVegas compares – but generally this is fine.

🏎️ Motorsports Betting

Andy Powell

Andy Powell

Everything here is split up on the main menu nav bar, so Formula 1, Speedway, NASCAR, motorbikes, plus a few others all have their own homes which is fine generally, but feels a little bit messy here. For Formula 1, this is better than a lot of other bookies, with plenty to bet on for the upcoming Grand Prix next weekend, and this is on top of outrights. What’s particularly good are the markets for practice and qualifying, which are far greater than other bookies. You’ll also find Formula E, Supercars, plus other motorsports mentioned above, and these diminish quite quickly in terms of coverage, which is fair enough.

🥊 Boxing Betting

Frank Monkhouse

Frank Monkhouse

Boxing editor

Maybe not punters’ first thought when it comes to boxing betting, but LeoVegas is emerging as a genuine favourite within the industry. The reasons for this are twofold. Firstly, the range of markets that they offer, even for relatively minor bouts, is vast; better than most. Secondly, in those markets, their odds are extremely competitive.

Compare, in more detail, among the best boxing betting sites and see why LeoVegas ranks so highly.

Other Sports Betting

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is still a large enough market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG; let’s dig in a bit further.

LeoVegas offers extensive betting options for handball, volleyball, cycling, AFL betting, and esports. 🗳️ Political Betting

Nigel Skinner

Nigel Skinner

This is very good. Most bookies will do some UK and US politics, but here there is a much bigger range, with markets for events in Finland, Sweden and Ireland, as well as a general European one (next country to leave the European Union). My guess is that they add noteworthy general elections as they approach, which is great to see.

🎭 Entertainment and Specials Betting

Jake Ashton

Jake Ashton

This is very, very good. There are UK markets for current awards ceremonies and reality TV programmes, and US ones for the major awards ceremonies, but on top of that there are markets in far more countries than most bookies cover. This includes (at the time of review) Australia, Estonia, Ireland, Norway, Italy and a few more.

Casino

LeoVegas does have casino. Despite the name of the brand, it's incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. They also have some bonuses and offers that lead to casino spins should you win sportsbook bets. Check our Casino Sites page for dedicated new online casinos and slot sites.

Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen LeoVegas has their “Join Now” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

There is a decent LeoVegas app, although the mobile version of the site is exceptional and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been built with that in mind – it does exactly what you want and that is not to feel too far removed when you switch from one device to the next, but also being product-led, and designed to suit its purpose as a proper mobile version.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to LeoVegas I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like LeoVegas has got this part nailed.

Responsible Gambling Features

You can set your deposit limit while you’re signing up; long before you’ve got close to actually making a bet.

There is also a Settings tab at the bottom of the page, no matter what page you’re on, that allows you to make changes to limits, as well as odds formats, or odds change preferences/notifications.

There are the following measures within its functionality:

  • Deposit Limit

  • Loss Limit

  • Session Limit

  • Wagering Limits

  • Reality Check

  • Time-Out

  • Self-Exclusion

  • Support Groups & Organisations

  • Parental Controls

  • Self-Assessment

All are explained in further detail on their safer gambling page. As well as this, on the same page they list links to the likes of the National Gambling Helpline, Be Gamble Aware and the National Gambling Treatment Service.
