Bookies now offer odds of 3/1 that the UK has its wettest year on record
Cold weather has hit the UK this week with bookmakers now giving odds on various weather specials throughout the year after 2025 is set to kick-off with snow.
Betting specials are now offered on records to be broken when it comes to weather this year with Ladbrokes giving odds of 3/1 that 2025 will be the wettest ever recorded.
The current record was set all the way back in 2000 with 1337.3m of rainfall taking place in the UK and now there's just a 25% chance that those numbers are broken this year.
Heavy snow and icy rain is expected for the next few days in the UK with the UK Health Security Agency giving alerts for those aged 65 and over.

Same odds given though that we see the hottest ever day in the UK in 2025
Part of the weather betting specials that are offered also looks at the chance of the hottest day of the year being broken in 2025.
The current record took place on 19 July 2022 with Coningsby in Lincolnshire recording a 40.3C temperature.
Three years on there's now a 25% chance given that that record is broken this year with 4 of the top 5 hottest UK days ever recorded taking place in the past 5 years.
Amber warnings for snow and ice given across England and Wales this weekend
Severe warnings have now been given across parts of England and Wales with snow expected to fall in these parts of the UK in the coming days.
All of Scotland has been given a yellow ice warning with a snow warning given for Northern and Central England and the majority of Wales from 6pm on Saturday until midnight on Sunday.
This warning has followed the NHS saying that there has been a sharp rise in Flu cases across hospitals in England over the Christmas period.
