Jermaine Jenas
Jermaine Jenas has a wealth of presenting experience and is the 2/1 favourite with bookmakers to be the next Match of the Day presenter, representing a 33% probability in the market.

Jermain Jenas already has a presenting job on The One Show so has experience of handling a studio and guests, and of course has been a regular guest on many football shows including Match of the Day, and cites his ability to work in the Sphere due to inspiration and encouragement from Lineker in his MOTD role.
The former, Newcastle, Tottenham and Egland International player retired in 2016 due a knee-injury began his TV career with ITV prior to retirement in 2015 with Europa League punditry, before co-presenting with Alex Jones when switching to the BBC for the One Show.
Alex Scott
Alex Scott was the first female football pundit on the BBC covering the 2018 World Cup and is 7/2 second favourite to take that title to Match of the Day and replace Gary Lineker

Alex Scott has forged herself a career in TV presenting following a successful career in women football with Arsenal and across the pond in the US with the Boston Breakers in the WPS.
Her first appearances on TV were as a guest on the hugely popular Sky Soccer show Soccer AM but after retiring in 2017 focussed on her media career, really becoming known when covering the World Cup in 2018 for the BBC in doing so becoming the first female football pundit on the network.
Stints with Sky on Goals on Sunday and drafted back to the BBC for a co-presenter spot on Sports Personality of the Year she has also been a guest presenter on The One Show on frequent occasions. She replaced Dan Walker on Football Focus and was a significant presenter for the 2020 Olympic Games with Clare Baldin and so is held in high regard by the makers of Match of the Day.
Others
Micah Richards is confirmed as an excellent guest on many a football show including Match of the Day and is among the favorites to take over, and is joined by Alan Shearer, a regular face on the show, as well as Match of the Day 2 presenter Mark Chapman who would surely more than welcome the promotion.
Eric Cantona at 33/1 would be an interesting choice, and of course, Piers Morgan who appears in every betting market known to man including Next prime minister betting and Next London Mayor betting gets a quote at 400/1
The Piers Morgan promotion train means he appears in every betting market known to man including the possibility of being the Next Prime Minister where bookmakers give him the same 400/1 chance he has of becoming the Next MOTD presenter.
