Despite losing out on a record-breaking 8th world Drivers title in the F1, 2021 was quite a year for newly knighted Sir Lewis Hamilton, and bookmakers are already lining things up to be quite a year for Lewis Hamilton betting in 2022.
With odds being offered on winning the drivers championship back and placing him as the short-priced 5/6 favourite already, another title would surely put him in the mix once again when Sports Personality of the Year 2022 comes around.
We've taken a scour around the bookmakers looking for various F1 odds, Hamilton bets and specials, and have found an interesting list of options
Market | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Hamilton to win 2022 F1 Drivers Championship | 5/6 | 54.55% |
Hamilton to win SPOTY 2022 | 6/1 | 14.29% |
All British F1 Podium Finish in 2022 | 5/2 | 28.57% |
Neither Hamilton or Verstappen to Win drivers Championship 2022 | 3/1 | 25.0% |
Geoge Russel to finish higher in Drivers Championship than Hamilton 2022 | 9/2 | 18.18% |
Hamilton will be, of course, keen to gain revenge on a dramatic conclusion to the 2021 drivers championship, with Max Verstappen taking the title in incredible controversy in the final race in Abu Dhabi.
A record-breaking 8th Drivers Championship would surely place him firmly in a position to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award once again in 2022. The title he lost to Emma Raducanu in 2021.
GB Dominance
With George Russel moving to Mercedes to Join Lewis Hamilton along with Lando Norris driving under the British flag it is not inconceivable that there may be an all-GB Podium at some point during the 2022 season. Bookmakers are not taking any chances, suggesting a 28% chance of the possibility and therefore pricing it up at 5/2
Hamilton will of course be the No1 driver at Mercedes but you can also take the 9/2 on offer for George Russel to finish higher in the driver championship than Hamilton.
Outside of Russell, there is very little in terms of competition for the title, so odds of just 3/1 for neither Hamilton or Verstappen to win look a little skinny, and taking Russel as an alternative might be a better bet.
