Full Karamba Bookmaker Review

The longer you explore Karamba’s sportsbook ,the more you’re impressed with it. My immediate reaction to the product was that it was a bolt-on to the casino product, and would be a bit of an afterthought. From a UX perspective, it works brilliantly, and then as you have a look through the different sections you see more and more markets included, and more and more competitions covered, regardless of sports. The rugby, basketball, NFL and MMA in particular are strengths.

There are, however, some very clear and obvious downsides. Firstly, there is nothing in the way of greyhound betting or horse racing. Greyhounds you can maybe forgive them for, but no horse racing is a big blot in the copybook if you’re operating in the UK. Secondly, there is nothing in the way of promotions, aside from boosted odds for selected markets. You’d like to see some free bets, or loyalty rewards, but unfortunately there isn’t much of that at all. That said, this is an impressive sportsbook, overall, and well worth your consideration.

My First Impressions

Select “Sports” at the very top menu, you’ll immediately be taken to all the sportsbook markets. The menu down the side immediately conveys just how many sports, competitions and events are covered here. I also really like the option on the menu bar to move from different time frames: today, three days, this week etc. It does feel very casino-led, especially because of the name and branding, but that should detract from the quality of betting on offer.

Live Betting

There’s so much here, and most of it is very good indeed. As discussed above, the in-play markets are where you’re directed to from the off, something that is fairly standard across most sportsbooks and you can then choose to navigate from this page. There are some sports not featured here, snooker for example, which does suggest that the coverage isn’t quite as broad as I first thought, but there’s three different esports covered, which is quite refreshing to see.

Live Streaming

As mentioned, Karamba has a great feature in its live betting section that allows you to toggle on and off whichever sports are currently offered with live streaming. These include basketball, tennis, table tennis, esports and a few others. The streams are of a high quality, with nothing noted in the way of lags or buffering during the time of review.

Betting Odds

After looking across other bookmakers in the UK, plus going through some comparison sites, it seems as though that the odds offered at Karamba are fairly competitive. We checked football, tennis and cricket for in-play odds, plus horse racing, basketball and rugby for pre-match and ante post odds. They’re generally pretty good and because they cover sports like floorball and stock car racing, will have odds on events that other bookies simply don’t cover at all.

⚽ Football Betting

Karamba offers a very broad range of football markets, with odds that are competitive. There’s obviously the major leagues and competitions, but bettors can also find domestic leagues as varied as Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Costa Rica. There is a good range, but it wouldn’t be right up with the very best. There are also some decent promotions running that are football-specific. We rank every bookie, at every sport, and Karamba is just a bit off our best football betting sites in the UK, but it’s still very good. 

Bet Builder 

Karamba has a bet builder function, and it’s fine, but could be improved if I’m being totally honest. I’d say it’s about mid-level, and would definitely be better if there were some more markets to add into individual bet builders. That said, these may increase the closer we get to kick-off for each game.

Bonuses

The bonuses at Karamba are limited. There is a welcome bonus to take advantage of, but it stops there after that. So that means no promotions for returning, loyal customers which is a huge miss.

Cash Out

Cash out is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. Karamba have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

🏀 Basketball Betting

I think Karamba has a great selection of basketball leagues to bet on, there are hundreds and hundreds of markets. There’s obviously the NBA, but Karamba covers a wide range of EuroLeague and domestic world competitions, including competitions in Angola, Indonesia, Portugal, Japan and Croatia, among others. There are also plenty of markets per game, with game, team and player markets covered really nicely. You can also compare Karamba to the best basketball betting sites.

⚾ Baseball Betting

Karamba obviously covers the MLB, but they also have markets for the Japanese and South Korean leagues. The markets, and the odds, especially on the outrights, look really good. The MLB season hasn’t quite kicked off at the time of writing, but there is still a healthy amount of things to bet on, such as individual awards and the like. 🏒 Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are the Japanese and South Korean leagues .which are big, but then beyond that there are even competitions covered in Switzerland, Latvia and Kazakhstan. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed – more than pretty much anywhere else. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. Overall, I think this is better than most from Karamba.

In terms of darts betting sites in the UK, Karamba has some ups and downs. The outrights on future events are great, but once you click through to the match ups, this then drops down quite a bit, and I can’t stack any bets within that. Maybe they increase the market number and variety closer to the time of the match, but I’d definitely like to see more earlier on.

At the time of the review we’re in the middle of the Champions League, which I can’t live stream unfortunately, but I do like the amount of markets per game that they offer, and generally the odds are pretty good.

This is pretty nice because Karamba offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus some more in addition to that – not everywhere covers the Oman D10 League, for example. I also love how many markets are available here for each game, assuming it’s not miles away in the future before teams are announced etc.

🎾 Tennis Betting

By James Banting - At the time of review their tennis section has 264 different tennis markets to bet on, which is fantastic. These games obviously cover the world, with the Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are good, and there’s plenty of markets, but I’d like to see more in-play markets. There’s no live streaming, but the stats that feature are pretty good.

By James Banting - Karamba’s golf offering is a little disappointing. There are only markets for the majors and the Ryder Cup, and those are just basic outrights. There are a few smaller tournaments happening right now, or due to start soon, such as the Phoenix Open, Astara Championship or Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, and none of these are listed in any form. I’d like to see a good bit more for me to consider using them consistently.  It’s worth checking our best golf betting sites to see how Karamba compares – but generally this is fine.

The motor sports here are okay. Everything is it’s own thing, rather than housed under a “motor sports” banner, but I can see Formula 1, obviously, on top of Speedway and Indy racing. There’s nothing in the way of bikes, such as MotoGP, or any NASCAR, which is a little annoying, especially when something as niche as stock car racing is included. Overall I am impressed with the detail in the Formula 1 markets, and if I ever choose to make a stock car bet I know where to come.

There’s lots of boxing bouts to get stuck into here, and the markets look dependent on timings. Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have an okay offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s understandable, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away, but I would definitely like more options for big bouts this weekend, and that’s definitely limited based on my experience with Karamba.

Karamba houses its political betting under “Specials”, along with Entertainment. The political betting is fine, maybe a little limited perhaps. There are some US Presidential markets, understandably, and odds on the next Mayor of London, but it fizzles out after that. I’m surprised that there’s nothing in the way of the UK General Election, or next Prime Minister odds, but for US stuff it’s not bad.

This is a bit basic from Karamba, with some music, award ceremonies and TV programmes covered. It’s tricky trying to work out what determines the offering because things like The Oscars and BAFTAs make sense, but Big Brother Brazil and Festival Di SanRemo seem a little out of place.

Karamba does have casino. Despite the name of the brand, it's incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen Karamba has their “Join Now” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

I’m surprised that there is no app, because other Aspire Global brands have apps that work well and that I like. That said, I do like the user experience of Karamba, and I think the same for their other sportsbooks that use the same interface. It can take a little getting used to – especially the way the menu drops down, rather than takes you through to another page, but once you get the hang of it I think it works really well, and does a great job of conveying what is available very quickly. 

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to Karamba I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very indeed. 

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like Karamba has got this part nailed.

Karamba Responsible Gambling Features

As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided.

Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.

You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.

Expect Karamba to contact you via your preferred communication method if there are suspicious activities on your account. This protects your account from being accessed by someone other than you and ensures you control your gambling activity.
