Ante Post Odds
The Cheltenham Festival is the most important race meeting in the British calendar, Cheltenham Festival Odds are available in many cases as soon as the previous festival has finished.
We took a look at the favourites in the Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post prices on the 13th January 2022.
These horses are listed below, along with their Cheltenham odds.
- We will follow these prices through to the day of the race, as we did last year.
- We want to see what would have happened in the following scenarios.
- If you let the back bet run.
- Trading the horse at the bigger/shorter price.
- Would you have been better off backing with an NR/NB bookmaker?
- Did the horse line up in the race?
- Was the horse still favourite for the race?
Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post Betting
You would have made money backing ante-post on Tuesday and Wednesday last year, but lost money backing ante-post on Thursday and Friday.
The biggest betting sites will go non-runner/no bet soonest, some have already done this on the Cheltenham Championship races.
With all bookmakers, you WILL lose your money if the horse does not line up unless they state Non-Runner/No Bet.
Cheltenham Festival 2022 - Ante Post Betting
Below is the Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post Favourites 2022, I shall revisit them in the middle of February and update prices/non-runners.
The lesson from last year was to look towards Tuesday and Wednesday for your ante-post bets.
There will be of course horses that do not run for a variety of reasons so you need to make sure that the odds justify the risk.
Where there is no definitive favourite (3 races) I have left these out until the next update in February.
N.B Some of the best settings sites are now Non-Runner/No Bet, predominately the NR/NB firms will offer shorter prices.

To Win Any Race At The Cheltenham Festival
Some bookmakers offer an Ante Post market for horses "TO WIN ANY RACE AT THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL".
The highest-profile bookmaker who does this is probably William Hill.
Prices tend to be shorter than for specific races but you are covered if the horse misses its first target and goes for another race.
Many shrewd horse racing tipsters on OLBG use this any race market.

- Appreciate It, Shiskin, Galvin have remained favourites and shortened as we get closer to their races. Epatante is second fav.

- Two days before the races Monkfish, Chacun Pour Soi and Easyland are still favs.
Results: An unbelievable price for Sky Pirate, all the ante-post favourites placed.

Results: If Tuesday was good then Thursday was a disaster. Envoi Allen falling was a sign of things to come.

- Nicky Henderson has so many different entries for his horses it can be frustrating, however by hedging his bets he may find the best races for his horses.
- Al Boum Photo strong for the Gold Cup.
- Normally the riskiest day for Ante-Post bets, 2021 has reiterated this with 4 favs not running.
In some cases, the favourites vary between different bookmakers, especially those favs towards the end of the week.
Horses may also be entered for a few races so that can cause a change of favourite for a specific race.
You should always note those multiple entry horses.
