Ford Fiesta favourite to once again be the most stolen car in the UK this year

2023 saw the DVLA reveal that there were 64,087 vehicles reported stolen across the UK and OLBG are looking at the latest odds around which model will top the 2024 rankings.

Despite the Ford Fiesta being discontinued in summer 2023, the small hatchback topped the list of the most stolen vehicles in 2023 and it's top of the odds list to do so once again this year.

The Fiesta remains one of the most popular vehicles on UK roads and the latest odds say there's a 50% chance that it is the most stolen vehicle in 2024 ahead of it's fellow ford in the Focus.

Nearly 6,000 Ford Fiesta's were reported as stolen in the UK last year and the overall stolen figures increased by 5% from 2022 and it would be no surprise to see the number rise once again.

What the expert says...
The betting odds think we'll see a repeat of 2023 with the Ford Fiesta topping the market again to be the most stolen vehicle across the UK in 2024! Fiesta and Focus were the top two in the list last year and it's expected to be a repeat this year.

DVLA's list from last year saw Ford cars in the Top 2

With the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus the top two in the overall most stolen chart in the UK, it's fair to say that Ford cars are the easiest targets for thieves.

The VW Golf and Mercedes-Benz C-Class follow in third and fourth place with Mercedes theft rising by nearly 30% in the space of 12 months.

The full top 10 in 2023 was:

1. Ford Fiesta - 5,976 stolen

2. Ford Focus - 2,120

3. VW Golf - 2,038

4. Mercedes-Benz C-Class - 1,786

5. Range Rover Sport - 1,631

6. Range Rover Evoque - 1,489

7. BMW 3 Series - 1,466

8. Vauxhall Corsa - 1,110

9. Vauxhall Astra - 1,086

10. Land Rover Discovery Sport - 954

Latest figures say a car is robbed in the UK every eight minutes

With the overall reported figures from the DVLA for cars stolen in 2023 sitting at 64,087, this works out at 176 cars stolen every day.

Those figures broke down even further make it one car stolen every eight minutes from some place across the UK in 2023.

It's unclear how the figures are tracking for 2024 so far but it is expected that we'll see the numbers rise once again this year.
