Full SportsBroker Bookmaker Review

SportsBroker is an interesting betting option for people who are maybe somewhat tired with standard sports betting. The key difference is that when betting against a bookie you can only ever go off the odds that they offer and these may not be to your liking. With pool betting, and this is especially the case if you're betting on something that not many other people are, it provides opportunities to win bigger sums of money. If lots of people bet on the opposite outcome, the pool builds and builds, and gives you a chance to do the opposite, for far more.

It will be interesting to see if SportsBroker are successful because punters have to get past the non-traditional way of betting. There are definitely some limiting factors on top of this. There is only a select amount of sports, and events within those sports, to bet on, so even if bettors have an intention to bet, it may not actually be included at SportsBroker. If the platform is improved, and more markets are added, I can see punters checking it out before they make their bets elsewhere, more out of curiosity that anything else. And big wins will always help, too.

SportsBroker Review Summary

Innovative pool betting platform that allows for potentially bigger wins than with conventional bookies.

PROS & CONS of SportsBroker Online Betting Site

The below is all explained in finer detail later in this review, but these quick pros and cons give users an instant understanding of where SportsBroker’s strengths lie.

Pros

  • Fantastic pool betting service.

  • Punters never bet against "the house".

  • SB Guarantee means that even less popular fixtures have a proper pools.

Cons

  • Limited number of sports to bet on.

  • Small market depth per sport.

Who are SportsBroker?

SportsBroker launched in the UK in 2023. It’s not your typical bookie as it is a pool betting platform and so allows punters to bet against other people, rather than “the house”. Let’s take a look and weigh up the benefits to pool betting, and SportsBroker specifically.

  • Established in 2023
  • Sport Brokers (UK) Ltd

  • UKGC licence number - 62840

First Impression of SportsBroker

My First Impressions

This review will reflect the product offered at the time of writing. I signed up on the desktop version of SportsBroker, and used the mobile version to compare, as well as downloading their app. SportsBroker is quite a simple platform. There isn’t the usual list of different sports like most other bookies, with the bookie having a calendar and selected sporting events per day that you can bet on. Aside from nuts and bolts stuff – gambling controls, security, account details etc. – there is really only one page (the home page) where markets are listed.

What is pool betting?

In standard betting punters are betting against the bookie itself. It’s the bookie who sets the odds and you choose whether to make that bet based on the odds offered to you. If you win, the bookie pays you, if you lose then the bookie keeps your stake. In pool betting there is no betting against “the house” (the bookie), just against other bettors. As there are no traders or algorithms determining the odds, it is the market that determines your returns.

So, you make a bet, all the funds are pooled together and, if your selection wins, you receive a proportional share of the pool based on your stake. Hence the name, pool betting.

All individual bets are pooled together, and the payout is determined by the size of the pool and the number of winning tickets made on that outcome. The more people who back the winner, the lower the winning dividend. The fewer people who back the winner, the higher the winning dividend.

Also, remember that it is always worth checking alternative betting options, including best spread betting sites and betting exchange sites, depending on who you are as a bettor.

The SB Guarantee

It’s worth pointing out that every pool at SportsBroker comes with their SB Guarantee to ensure that there is a minimum to win in every match. This guarantee then reduces if more and more bets are placed. This means that there is always money to be won on less popular fixtures where not that many bets have been placed. The SB Guarantee does not affect the odds of winning but guarantees a minimum pool size.

SportsBroker Betting Sports

There is no main “sports” tab in the menu, so it’s not immediately clear what sports SportsBroker covers. During the review I placed some bets on rugby league (in the NRL), football and tennis. Beyond that I saw some rugby union and cricket fixtures also, but nothing else beyond that. The football is definitely covered the best, with international fixtures, plus domestic games in most continents.

Is Pool Betting Better than Fixed Odds?

At times it can be, there are often larger payouts than fixed odds, especially when there are longshot winners. The pooled pot can give you an interest in all races and the jackpot can give you huge wins on occasion.

SportsBroker Betting App or Mobile Site

Overall I think the app is a much better platform to use when betting at SportsBroker, and the whole product definitely feels mobile-first. The navigation is smoother, and everything feels more in its place. Like the desktop version, however, there is no way of search via sport. So, no “A-Z Sports”, allowing you to go straight to football, or tennis, for example, and then choosing markets then. It’s all done on a calendar system, just going through the day’s events.

SportsBroker Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen SportsBroker has their “Join Now” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

As I mentioned above, SportsBroker has no app, but that actually doesn’t matter because a lot of extra focus has clearly been invested into the mobile version of the site. It works brilliantly and makes the need for an app somewhat redundant (you can just bookmark the page if you like). The nav bars are in different places (along the bottom rather than down the left-hand side, for example), with the intention of making things feel more intuitive on a smaller screen. It works really well and I’d definitely recommend using the mobile version whenever possible.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to SportsBroker I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like SportsBroker has got this part nailed.

Responsible Gambling Features

You can set your deposit limit while you’re signing up; long before you’ve got close to actually making a bet.

There is also a Settings tab at the bottom of the page, no matter what page you’re on, that allows you to make changes to limits, as well as odds formats, or odds change preferences/notifications.

There are the following measures within its functionality:

  • Deposit Limit

  • Loss Limit

  • Session Limit

  • Wagering Limits

  • Reality Check

  • Time-Out

  • Self-Exclusion

  • Support Groups & Organisations

  • Advice on Keeping in Control

  • Parental Controls

  • Self-Assessment

All are explained in further detail on their safer gambling page. As well as this, on the same page they list links to the likes of the National Gambling Helpline, Be Gamble Aware and the National Gambling Treatment Service.

Responsible Gambling

There is a full suite of responsible gambling tools for your protection and may request further identification after certain depositing levels are exceeded or stakes are increased quickly.
