Paddy Power is an excellent betting option. Being in the top 10 for so many categories is testament to that, and there’s only one bookie in the country that makes more of these lists than Paddy Power.

You can tell from the sports that Paddy Power excels in – greyhounds, horse racing, darts, snooker etc. – that there is an old school, heritage feel about the product, despite the whimsical branding and marketing. They’ve been doing this a long time and doing it well, and are proving that they actually back up all the chat with a great betting product.

Who are Paddy Power?

Pretty much anyone who’s ever gambled a bit will know about Paddy Power thanks to their aggressive marketing strategy and, as a result, I always find their site, and app, a lot cleaner than I think it’s going to be. At OLBG, we’re constantly reviewing bookmaker performance, collecting data and presenting it to show which bookies do what well. As it stands, Paddy Power makes our top 10 in the country for football, greyhound racing, snooker, tennis, darts, politics and entertainment, as well as bet builders and acca insurance. There aren’t many bookies that can match Paddy Power for this consistent high level across the board.

Live Betting

Live in-play betting is available on Paddy Power, just look for the in-play section of their main menu. The offering is great. There’s some football, tennis and cricket, plus handball and esports, plus some more – essentially, they have most things covered. Live Streaming

With live betting comes live streaming and Paddy Power do this better than most. When I went there (on a weekday morning) there was tennis, snooker and darts, but other sports are included. All sports that Paddy Power live stream are completely free, assuming that you are logged in. The one exception is horse racing – to live stream racing you need to have placed a bet on the race.

Betting Odds

Paddy Power are one of the biggest betting sites online, as well as one of the leading high street bookmakers and are instantly recognisable. Here are details on which sports Paddy Power were most competitive last month. The A-Z sports tab was in the right place and the black coloured headers stood out and separated the different sections of the app. The menu was incredibly user-friendly, no whistles or bells, just a list of sports, exactly what you want. The Paddy Power app could not be faulted for ease of use. Take a look at the carousel of screenshots below, we think you will agree that it looks intuitive, even for novice bettors we expect there would be no issues. The Paddy Power quick bet facility is a boon, when you select a price on an event a quick slip instantly opens, meaning you can get on in seconds. App users can also set a default start page, where having checked OLBG tipsters football predictions or horse racing predictions you can choose the football or horse racing start page.  

⚽ Football Betting

Paddy Power is the third best betting site in the country for football betting, according to our data. They have early payouts, money back specials and crazy promotions on big sporting events, and offer a rewards club plus fabulous football betting options. This is a football betting site that covers a lot of bases. At Paddy Power you’ll find Acca Insurance, great live streaming options, Edit My Bet, Free To Play games and a really generous amount of odds boosts. All of this, plus a bit more, makes up for the fact that the odds aren’t market-leading, and that generally you’ll find better value elsewhere, but in terms of the tools that Paddy Power provides its users with, it’s a brilliant football betting option.

The Paddy Power bet builder is really good, and ranks in our top 10. Paddy Power’s #whatodds features allow punters to request specific bet builders if not already, in addition to the sportsbook’s premade options. If you choose to construct your bet builder with four or more selections, and one leg lets you down, Paddy Power will return your stake as a free bet. Bonuses

You can obviously use the welcome offer to place football bets, but on top of that there were a couple of football-specific offers that I could find in addition to the bet boosts.

There are plenty of great football offers. You get a free bet if one leg of your acca lets you down (assuming it’s five legs or more). There are completely free bet builders for high profile selected matches, early payouts if your team goes two goals up and the ability to do multi match bet builders, also.

Paddy Power also makes our top 10 for Acca Insurance. They offersa maximum acca insurance refund of £20 credited as a free bet with a seven-day shelf life when one selection lets you down. Also, just four selections are required, with the total acca odds at a low 2.44 and a minimum stake of £1. A very tight decision to only come second in our table, but Betfreds cash refund nicks the top spot. You can include other sports on top of football but no horse racing selections.

Cash Out

Cash Out is, of course, available at Paddy Power. HIt’s not offered on everything, but it’s pretty safe to say it’s offered on most markets. All markets that offer Cash Out have it cleared labelled so you always know beforehand.

Paddy Power offers Best Odds Guaranteed to its customers. You can get BOG after 8am on race day of all UK and Irish races, including in multiples, and with a maximum restriction set at £2,500.

They pay extra places in lots of races – there is even five places at a specific Cheltenham race on the day of this review when most other bookies are doing three. Also, keep your eyes peeled for any number of tipsters and ambassadors offering insight at the races on any given day.

I’d prefer it if Paddy Power listed all three major markets (spread, total and moneyline) for individual games on their main American football section. As it is, they just list the moneyline, which forces you to click into games, rather than be able to scan across the entire league in one go. Be aware that Paddy Power call the spread “handicap”, another example of Anglicising their coverage. 

One thing I do really like is their NFL Redzone Specials, where you can get odds on specific markets such as Highest Scoring Game or Highest Scoring Team of the week.

🏀 Basketball Betting

At the time of review there’s a nice little NBA promotion, where if you palace a beet builder on any NBA game this week, you’ll get a free bet on top of that.

As well as the NBA, there are events for the top leagues around the world, including Greece, Spain, Italy, and Australia. In terms of specific markets, you’ll find moneyline, total points and handicaps, plus plenty more. You can also bet in-play, with odds available quarter by quarter. I’m pleased to report that in terms of darts betting sites in the UK, Paddy Power is pretty good – in fact they’re the best in the country and come out number one when you factor in all aspects of darts betting. They have the best darts odds, with excellent event coverage and depth of markets to go alongside it. A big annoyance of punters is when bookmakers have features that they use, but then not across all sports that they offer. Paddy Power don’t do this, and offer darts punters their acca insurance when betting on darts matches. If one leg lets you down, you’ll get a free bet of up to £10 back.

It’s nice to see what Paddy Power calls “Power Prices”, that is, enhanced odds, on a few different rugby markets, as well as some links to tips on their news site.

Rugby betting markets (across League and Union) offered for individual matches include 3-Way Handicap, Total Points, Winning Margin and a range of Try Scorer options. All the major leagues and competitions are covered across both codes which is great to see.

The event coverage is good at Paddy Power, with domestic competitions in India, Australia and the UAE all there, as well as outrights for future World Cups and the Ashes, also. There are some price boosts today for World Cup games, some of which are very generous. Paddy Power actually matches them odds-wise, so hopefully they can up their market depth and they’ll be in with a shout of being one of the best around.

It would be odd if Paddy Power wasn’t on this list, and didn’t offer a variety of novelty markets when it comes to entertainment and specials. Very much in keeping with it’s light-hearted brand, Paddy Power covers a decent range of betting opportunities in the TV and film world, not to mention awards shows and competitions – think Britain’s Got Talent, Eurovision, The Voice and the like.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

Overall the navigation is very good. There’s a lot of information crammed into each page which may be a little disorientating for some, but I never found it hard to find anything and, to be honest, kept seeing little alerts or icons telling me about various things (if there is cash out, price boosts, live streaming etc) that normally you have to hunt around for. You definitely get the sense that people who bet regularly are involved in designing the product.

Reviews on both the App Store and Google Play are great, with both sets of users happy with the app. Paddy Power's app has a rating of over 4 out of 5 on OLBG's best betting apps ranking with plenty of ratings provided.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. 

Placing a bet on Paddy Power is straightforward with the betslip instantly popping up on the side of your screen on the desktop site. This adds your selection straight into your slip with the speed of placing the bet after clicking it less than a second.

The app is fairly similar to the desktop site with the betslip going at the bottom of your screen as soon as you pick your selection on there. In-play betting will always be slower to place a bet but from the example bets that we did we found that the prices stayed the same for the few seconds it took for the bet to process in-play.

Managing your account

An integral part of any betting site is the account management side of things with the ease of access to various account details always important. Plenty of options are available in the My Account section of Paddy Power including Bet History, Banking History and overall transactions.
