How competitive is the Topham Chase market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2010, when the race had an over-round of 132%. The race in 2025 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 152%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Topham Chase, the over-round has been 140%, which means the bookie expects to pay out ÂŁ100 for every ÂŁ140 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2027 Topham Chase Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Topham Chase Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Topham Chase races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Always Waining (5:19.30) in 2011
  2. Will The Wise (5:20.25) in 2026
  3. Mac Tottie (5:22.89) in 2022

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Topham Chase next time out, then you would have backed a total of 1 winner. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -16.00. Ahead of the 2027 Topham Chase, why not head over to the racing predictions for tips on other races today?

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 5:19.30 was set by Always Waining in 2011, trained by Peter Bowen and ridden by Tom O'Brien, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2018 when Ultragold won in a time of 5:50.60 for trainer Colin Tizzard, who booked Harry Cobden in the saddle.

What the expert says...
The festival route provided the winner in 2026 (Festival Plate) after six renewals of the winner coming from elsewhere. The Festival Plate also supplied winners in 2008, 2015 & 2018, the Grand Annual two winners (2016 & 2017), the Kim Muir two winners (2006 & 2009) and the Ultima one (2014).
