How competitive is the Topham Chase market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2010 when the race had an over-round of 132%. The race in 2025 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 152%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Topham Chase, the over-round has been 139%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £139 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Topham Chase Trends, see which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal, we also have a section that looks at the Topham Chase Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Topham Chase over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Always Waining (5:19.30) in 2011
  2. Mac Tottie (5:22.89) in 2022
  3. Ma Filleule (5:23.20) in 2014

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? From the past 20 if you had followed the winner of the Topham Chase next time out then you would have backed a total of 1 winner. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since to win at SP next time out, would have returned an LSP of -16.00. Whilst we wait for the 2026 Topham Chase remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 5:19.30 was set by Always Waining in 2011, which is the quickest time over that period, the runner was trained by Peter Bowen and ridden by Tom O'Brien. The slowest winning time was set in 2018 when Ultragold won in a time of 5:50.60, booked to ride was Harry Cobden by the trainer Colin Tizzard.

What the expert says...
The festival route has gone a bit quiet in recent years, the Festival Plate has supplied three winners (2008, 2015 & 2018), the Grand Annual two winners (2016 & 2017), the Kim Muir two winners (2006 & 2009) and the Ultima one (2014) which means eight winners since 2006, however, as you can see the last of those was in 2018 meaning six renewals without a festival horse winning.
