2026 Spring Juvenile Hurdle Preview

The Spring Juvenile Hurdle is a Grade 1 hurdle that is run during the Dublin Racing Festival at the Leopardstown racecourse in early February. The race is run over two miles and is open to four-year-old runners only, form here is usually very useful when looking at the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

In 2018, the first two home, Mr Adjudicator & Farclas were 1-2 in the Triumph Hurdle the following month, the first two home in 2017 were 2nd & 3rd in the Triumph and both the 2021 (Quilixios) & 2022 (Vauban) winners went on to win the Triumph Hurdle too. In 2023 the first two home were the first two home in the Triumph albeit the other way round and then in 2024 the runner in 3rd went on to win the Triumph with the winner finishing in 2nd.

Ahead of the 2026 Spring Juvenile Hurdle why not head over to the racing predictions for tips on other races today?

Over the last 20 renewals, it was Gala Marceau, trained by W P Mullins and ridden by Danny Mullins who set the fastest winning time in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle, the runner won the race in a time of 3:49.50 when winning the race in 2023. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer C Byrnes and jockey Davy Russell with Pittoni who set the slowest winning time, the race-winning time was 4:15.10 in the 2010 renewal.

What the expert says...
You want one who was thereabouts last time out, eighteen of the last twenty winners finished in the first two before coming here and this is usually a good race to follow the top three into the Triumph Hurdle.
