How competitive is the Sovereign Path Handicap market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2011 when the race had an over-round of 119%. The race in 2013 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 144%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Sovereign Path Handicap, the over-round has been 132%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £132 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Sovereign Path Handicap Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Sovereign Path Handicap Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Sovereign Path Handicap races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Finicius (1:25.12) in 2010
  2. Baraweez (1:25.40) in 2014
  3. Dance Night Andday (1:25.46) in 2024

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Sovereign Path Handicap next time out, then you would have backed a total of 4 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +7.20. Before placing your bet on the 2026 Sovereign Path Handicap, see which other runners today are being backed on the racing predictions page.

The runner that holds the record over the past 20 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2012 renewal when Piri Wango from G M Lyons under the guidance of Emmet McNamara, won in a time of 1:34.76, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Finicius, trained by Eoin Griffin and ridden by Johnny Murtagh set the quickest time of 1:25.12 in the 2010 renewal.

What the expert says...
In terms of form, the last winner of this race, who also won last time out, was back in 2014; that is a run of 11 races since.
