Over the last 20 renewals, it was Brighterdaysahead, trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Sam Ewing, who set the fastest winning time in the December Festival Hurdle. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer C A Murphy and jockey R Walsh with Brave Inca who set the slowest winning time; the race-winning time was 4:17.40 in the 2006 renewal.

What the expert says...
Eleven of the last fourteen winners, which is a significant number, came via the Morgiana Hurdle. All bar one of those (10) won both races, including all of the last five winners of this race.
