2025 Savills Chase Preview

Open to runners aged five or older, the Grade 1 Savills Chase is scheduled to take place in December of each year at the Leopardstown racecourse during the Christmas Festival, the race is run over a trip of three miles in which seventeen fences will have to be jumped.

The race was previously known as the Ericsson Chase, the Lexus Chase and the Christmas Chase.

How competitive is the Savills Chase market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2005 when the race had an over-round of 109%. Seventeen of the twenty winners between 2004 & 2023 went on to run in either the Cheltenham Gold Cup (x12) or the Irish Gold Cup (x5). Synchronised (2011) was the only winner to go on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup whilst future form in the Irish Gold Cup reads as 21211.
