Royal Ascot Tipster Competition

Every year, OLBG host a Royal Ascot Tipster Competition, which is free to enter with £500 in cash prizes to be won.

The winner of the tipster competition receives £200, the runner-up gets £100, and a third place finish is worth £50; those finishing in the next fifteen positions each receive £10.

All you need to do is add 15+ tips throughout Royal Ascot, each tip must contain a comment of at least 20 words, and at least 5 of your tips must be profitable.

In past years, there has been high-quality tipping and huge profits made by the leading tipsters.

Tips on Course Bias for Royal Ascot 

✅ With an LSP of +74.50, the most successful stall at Royal Ascot is stall 10 when backing runners over a trip of 6f over the last five years.

❌ The stall with the worst loss at Royal Ascot in the win market, when breaking it down to race trips, is stall 6 over a trip of 1m, backing all runners in this stall over that trip over the past five years would have returned a loss of -55.50.

Here we have the draw bias for Royal Ascot taken into consideration races with ten or more runners, we will break down the figures by race distance, draws can be much more important over the shorter trips in which runners do not have time to find their position during the race meaning the draw is probably more important than the races over longer distances.

Royal Ascot Tips Jockey Analysis

OLBG Member Teddy T has unearthed some great jockey stats for Royal Ascot, particularly focused on Ryan Moore.

At face value, those odds look pretty appealing considering Moore’s impressive record, but is there a way of increasing the profit level by honing in on the areas where Moore particularly excels?

The basic facts for Ryan Moore’s rides over the last ten years at Royal Ascot look like this:

Ryan Moore at Royal Ascot 2016-2025 - 317 bets for 56 wins (18% strike rate) and an LSP of -53.95.

Just backing Moore’s mounts blindly in each of the last ten years would only have returned a profit just once, so we need to dig deeper.

Watch out when he teams up with Aidan O'Brien in a Group 2 race; he has won on 18 of his 65 rides (26%) for an LSP of +25.98 (+44.98 BSP).

Overall, his Group 1 rides are the source of most of the loss, with an LSP of -28.36 for 79 Group 1 rides.

Jamie Spencer at Royal Ascot

Jamie Spencer may not have the best of records at Royal Ascot, but since 2008, he has ridden 269 runners and produced just 16 winners (6%) for an LSP of +9.38.

So why mention him, I hear you say, with such a low strike rate and a profit made up of 2023 winners at 50/1 & 80/1.

Well, there is a way in which he has produced a steady profit year after year, and that is backing his runners to place.

From his 269 rides, he has placed on a total of 72 of those, which is a 27% place strike rate, now backing all his rides eachway (5+ runner fields) does produce a profit of +81.78, but again mainly due to his 2023 winners.

However, had you backed all 269 of those on the Betfair exchange to place at SP, then the LSP would have been a very impressive +134.69! That is a profit of £1,346 if you had placed £10 on each!

This can be improved upon, too. His rides over further than a mile do not produce a lot of placings, only 17 from 97 for an LSP of -29.55, so you could rule those out.

His record around the round course is not great either, with 18 placings from 107 rides for an LSP of -36.91. Jamie seems much better at navigating his way through on the straight course.

So if you focused on Jamie Spencer to place over no further than one mile on the straight course, then since 2008 the numbers are 172 Rides, 55 Places (32%), LSP of +164.24 (BSP), which is very good!

The most impressive thing about this is consistency, over the last seventeen festivals, using the rules above, Spencer has shown a profit in the place market in fourteen of those festivals, although it must be said that he has failed to do so in three of the last four.

When looking at profitable trainers only, then it is K R Burke who leads the way with a total of eight winners producing an LSP of +20.75, whilst A P O'Brien leads the overall list with forty-eight winners but shows a loss overall. When looking at trainers and looking for some eachway value at Royal Ascot, then the trainer who shows the best eachway profit is C G Cox, that LSP is +52.18, which has been accumulated by a total of eighteen placings, which includes five winners. Richard Hannon (Jnr) does not have a great record at Royal Ascot; their LSP of -103.00 has them stone dead bottom of the trainers' list, that has come from seven winners from one hundred ninety-four runners, which is a 4% strike rate.

Following L Dettori would have returned a profit here at Royal Ascot with an LSP of +1.60, and their twenty-nine winners have them at the head of the profitable jockeys' list. Ryan Moore does lead the jockeys' list overall with fifty-six winners, but shows an overall loss. If you are looking for a jockey to follow in the eachway market, then it is Rossa Ryan who leads the way at Royal Ascot. They have had a total of seventeen placings, which includes five winners over the previous five for an eachway LSP of +66.60. A total of six winners from one hundred sixty-six rides at Royal Ascot have Silvestre De Sousa at the wrong end of the jockeys' list with their 4% strike rate and worst LSP of -135.17.
