The race in 2013 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 134%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Old Newton Cup, the over-round has been 126%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £126 which is bet.

These are the top three quickest-run Old Newton Cup races over the last 20 renewals:

 2. Dangerous Midge (2:28.66) in 2010
 3. Consular (2:28.83) in 2006

Remember to use the racing predictions along with the information on this page to find a bet on the 2026 Old Newton Cup.

The runner that holds the record over the past 20 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2020 renewal when Deja from Peter Chapple-Hyam under the guidance of Harry Bentley, won in a time of 2:36.49, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Rainbow Rebel, trained by Mark Johnston and ridden by Joe Fanning set the quickest time of 2:27.36 in the 2018 renewal.

What the expert says...

One race that is worth a second look as a prep run is the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Ascot, which has produced six of the last nineteen winners, with back-to-back winners in 2020 (Deja) & 2021 (Alounak).
