2027 Silver Bowl Preview

Scheduled to take place in May of each year at the Haydock Racecourse is the Silver Bowl, a heritage handicap that is restricted to three-year-olds who compete over a distance of one mile and thirty-seven yards.

The race usually attracts a decent field, which can result in some well-priced winners, meaning the favourites have not had the best of times in the race.

How competitive is the Silver Bowl market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2012, when the race had an over-round of 112%. The race in 2014 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 131%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Silver Bowl, the over-round has been 122%, which means the bookie expects to pay out Β£100 for every Β£122 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2027 Silver Bowl Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Silver Bowl Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Silver Bowl races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Blue Courvoisier (1:37.51) in 2026
  2. Beatboxer (1:39.77) in 2019
  3. Sagramor (1:40.07) in 2011

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Silver Bowl next time out, then you would have backed a total of 2 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -4.50. Whilst we wait for the 2027 Silver Bowl, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

Over the last 20 renewals, it was Blue Courvoisier, trained by Clive Cox and ridden by Saffie Osborne, who set the fastest winning time in the Silver Bowl. That runner won the race in a time of 1:37.51 in 2026. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer Roger Varian and jockey Jack Mitchell with Raadobarg who set the slowest winning time; the race-winning time was 1:51.61 in the 2021 renewal.

What the expert says...
Between 2009 and 2025, every winner of this race, except for three (2012, 2023 & 2024), went on to run in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot next time out. Sagramor (2011) is the only runner to go on to win that race; in fact, nine of those finished 10th or worse!
