2026 Silver Bowl Preview

Scheduled to take place in May of each year at the Haydock Racecourse is the Silver Bowl, a heritage handicap that is restricted to three-year-olds who compete over a distance of one mile and thirty-seven yards.

The race usually attracts a decent field size, which can result in some decent-priced winners, which means the favourites have not had the best of times in the race.

How competitive is the Silver Bowl market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2012 when the race had an over-round of 112%. The race in 2014 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 131%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Silver Bowl, the over-round has been 121%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £121 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Silver Bowl Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Silver Bowl Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Silver Bowl races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Beatboxer (1:39.77) in 2019
  2. Sagramor (1:40.07) in 2011
  3. Rusumaat (1:40.41) in 2017

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Silver Bowl next time out, then you would have backed a total of 1 winner. Backing all 18 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -9.00. Ahead of the 2026 Silver Bowl, why not head over to the racing predictions for tips on other races today?

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 1:39.77 was set by Beatboxer in 2019, which is the quickest time over that period. The runner was trained by John Gosden and ridden by Robert Havlin. The slowest winning time was set in 2021 when Raadobarg won in a time of 1:51.61, booked to ride was Jack Mitchell by the trainer Roger Varian.

What the expert says...
Between 2009-22, every winner of this race with the exception of one (2012) went on to run in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot next time out, Sagramor (2011) is the only runner to go on to win that race, in fact, eight of those finished 10th or worse!
