How competitive is the Mallard Handicap market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2006 when the race had an over-round of 110%. The race in 2008 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 123%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Mallard Handicap, the over-round has been 116%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £116 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Mallard Handicap Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Mallard Handicap Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Mallard Handicap races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Sunday Symphony (2:58.52) in 2006
  2. Nanton (3:02.64) in 2009
  3. Curbyourenthusiasm (3:03.34) in 2015

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Mallard Handicap next time out, then you would have backed a total of 2 winners. Whilst we wait for the 2026 Mallard Handicap, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 20 renewals, a time of 2:58.52 was set by Sunday Symphony in 2006, which is the quickest time over that period. The runner was trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Frankie Dettori. The slowest winning time was set in 2023 when Legendary Day won in a time of 3:18.28, booked to ride was Mark Winn by trainer Adrian Paul Keatley.

What the expert says...
