2026 All-Weather Easter Plate Preview

Established in 2014 when Litigant won at Lingfield for Durack and Baker, the All-Weather Easter Plate (Marathon Championships) is contested over two miles (2m56y) on the all-weather track at Newcastle.

The race moved to Newcastle in 2022 and currently carries a purse of ÂŁ175k. It is a Class 2 race, open to runners aged four or older, and you get some jump runners making the switch for this, with the likes of Nigel Twiston-Davies and Alan King winning the race in the past.

For sponsorship purposes, the 2026 renewal of the All-Weather Easter Plate will hold the title of 'Midnite All-Weather Easter Plate Marathon Handicap'.

How competitive is the All-Weather Easter Plate market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 11 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2021, when the race had an over-round of 110%. The race in 2016 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 125%, whilst on average over the last 11 renewals of the All-Weather Easter Plate, the over-round has been 120%, which means the bookie expects to pay out ÂŁ100 for every ÂŁ120 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 All-Weather Easter Plate Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the All-Weather Easter Plate Trend Analysis. With the field now finalised, we have the All-Weather Easter Plate Trend Shortlist, which is created using the listed trends.

These are the top three quickest-run All-Weather Easter Plate races over the last 11 renewals:

  1. Winning Story (3:15.18) in 2017
  2. Litigant (3:17.30) in 2014
  3. Moonrise Landing (3:18.65) in 2016

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 11 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the All-Weather Easter Plate next time out, then you would have backed a total of 4 winners. Backing all 11 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +36.63. Remember to use the racing predictions along with the information on this page to find a bet on the 2026 All-Weather Easter Plate.

The runner that holds the record over the past 11 renewals for the slowest time in the race was set in the 2022 renewal when Earlofthecotswolds from Nigel Twiston-Davies under the guidance of Liam Keniry, won in a time of 3:34.73, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Winning Story, trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa set the quickest time of 3:15.18 in the 2017 renewal.

What the expert says...
Only three of the last eight winners of this race came here on the back of a win; four of the other five finished second on their route here, so remember to look beyond a last time out winner.
