Trainers To Follow
- Another year has flown past and barring a calamity in December it will be another winning year for the blog.
- A slow November with the usual suspects having limited success means we sit at around +£100 LSP for the year.
- We had a tiny loss last December but that was largely down to one trainer, we had four trainers showing a profit who are back and also three that made small losses who will also be included.
- In total we have 10 trainers on the list this month, 7 GB National Hunt, 2 GB All Weather and a familiar face from over the water.
National Hunt UK Trainers
GB NH
VENETIA WILLIAMS (ALL)
We’ve been on her horses the last two Decembers and both years she has made a tiny loss.
-
2018 9/53 17% +£16.83
-
2019 16/56 29% +£ 4.42
-
2020 7/55 13% (£15.54)
-
2021 14/59 24% (£ 7.72)
Our own figures using early prices were (£4.75) in 2020 and only (£1.38) in 2021, at the time of writing she has had 3 winners from her last 4 runners and looks to be warming up for a good month with stable star L’Homme Presse a possible in the King George.
NICKY HENDERSON (ALL)
Needs no introduction, has been flying of late and should have plenty of winners this month.
-
2017 26/82 32% +£19.13
-
2018 24/89 27% +£22.06
-
2019 24/87 28% (£ 5.79)
-
2020 15/74 20% +£18.46
-
2021 18/82 22% (£18.43)
Our own figures were only (£9.04) last season but his horses are bang in form (6 winners from last 12 runners) so I think we must include.
SANDY THOMSON (ALL)
Another back from last season and another who made a tiny loss, plenty went close at big prices last year so I made a note to include.
-
2017 3/12 25% +£11.75
-
2018 5/20 25% +£14.62
-
2019 5/25 22% +£11.50
-
2020 4/20 20% +£ 3.88
-
2021 3/32 9% (£16.25)
Our own SP figures were just (£1.50) using early prices, you really need to get on early with this guy in, we doubled the SP profit in 2019 and had SIX TIMES the profit in 2020 using early prices, one was bet at 25’s and won at 17/2! Comes into the month on the back of a 38% strike rate and a +£36 LSP.
HUGHIE MORRISON (ALL)
Another from the list last year, not one to get mega excited about as he'll only have a handful of runners but has a habit of finding at least 1 nice winner each December.
-
2017 1/7 14% +£ 1.00
-
2018 1/4 25% +£37.00
-
2019 3/5 60% +£11.50
-
2020 1/5 25% +£17.00
-
2021 1/7 14% +£ 2.50
Just the one winner again but profit and he did have two seconds and a third so most ran well.
EVAN WILLIAMS (NON BUMPERS)
Glamorgan trainer and possible blog virgin, usually finds a couple of nice priced winners in December.
-
2018 11/67 16% +£46.60
-
2019 5/49 10% (£ 2.50)
-
2020 10/39 26% +£17.46
-
2021 6/48 13% +£ 2.83
Don’t be surprised to see him find a winner at the Welsh National meeting at Chepstow at the back end of the year. Remember to ignore his bumper runners , he’s 0/8 in the above period and has only had 2 bumper winners since the summer of 2018!
SAM THOMAS (ALL)
A second Welsh trainer and a bit of a new kid on the block compared to the other members of this month’s blog.
-
2018 0/3 0% (£3.00)
-
2019 2/5 40% +£1.63
-
2020 3/11 27% +£0.25
-
2021 6/23 26% +£26.63
Lovely progressive stats, should prove a useful addition to the squad.
N W ALEXANDER (CHASE)
A second Scottish trainer to go with our two Welshmen.
-
2016 4/18 22% +£ 0.63
-
2017 2/7 29% +£ 7.50
-
2018 5/13 38% +£14.63
-
2019 2/12 17% (£ 5.25)
-
2020 3/14 21% +£21.50
-
2021 4/13 31% +£12.13
With such good figures dating back to 2016 it’s probably a mistake by me not to have had him in the December blog before now. Remember it’s just his chase runners, the rest of his runners are nowhere near as strong.
National Hunt Ireland Trainers
NH IRELAND
HENRY DE BROMHEAD (HURDLERS)
Waterford trainer back from last year where he gave us a +£6.29 LSP.
-
2017 9/37 24% +£68.33
-
2018 11/49 22% +£46.84
-
2019 10/49 20% +£37.09
-
2020 7/58 12% (£22.88)
-
2021 5/57 9% (£13.38)
We stuck with him last year despite the poor 2020 and it paid dividends despite what the SP figures said. His 5 winners were bet at 20’s 18’s 16’s 3’s and 13/8, so again get on early. He comes into the month 19% and +£29 LSP in November which also bodes well.
All Weather Trainers
GB AW
DAVID LOUGHNANE (3YO+)
Shropshire trainer back from last December where was the star performer, providing a +£15.31 LSP
-
2018 5/17 29% +£27.50
-
2019 4/29 14% (£10.00)
-
2020 9/33 27% +£37.83
-
2021 5/26 19% +£11.41
He did have a couple of 2yo winners last year but still had a LSL with them so we’ll stick with his non Juveniles.
HUGO PALMER (ALL)
Cheshire trainer back from last year where he gave a +£7.25 LSP.
-
2017 2/12 17% +£ 1.75
-
2018 5/17 29% +£10.85
-
2019 2/10 20% (£ 2.50)
-
2020 4/14 29% +£21.13
-
2021 3/13 23% +£ 6.25
Pretty consistent stuff and won’t keep us too busy.
