Must Be Obeyed has put in her best performances at this sort of trip on good ground and yielding ground, including the course winner's 2nd in this race last year off a 3lb higher mark. Her last five starts have not been in optimum conditions for the 9-year-old, which has seen her mark drop. No surprise to see a much bigger effort today in first-time cheekpieces.

Not a fancy selection by any means, but I like the angle of the first-time cheekpieces and Paul Townend maintaining the partnership. He's been dropped 1lb for the last run, having just his second handicap run today. To be fair, you can ignore the last run anyway. He just didn't take to the national fences at all and never looked comfortable over them. This race looks much easier, although he hasn't won for over 2 years now. He's done most of his racing in much better company than this. His form figures at this meeting read 313, with all those runs coming in Grade 1 races. He won the Grade 1 novice chase here back in 2022. He's a two-time Grade 1 winner, so clearly a classy horse. Admittedly, he may not be as good as he once was, but I think if the cheekpieces work, he's miles better than this mark.

Looks like a good each way bet here. Had four races here: 3 places and a win in this race last year. Goes well fresh and looks to me like a repeat victory has been targeted.

Is another sort I like as has run well in big field handicaps before and will love decent ground. Looks well handicapped to me as is 5lb lower than when second last February to this year's Ryanair runner up Heart Wood at Leopardstown. Travels well and as stated before big fields don't phase him either. Ran well at Cheltenham last time I the Plate fading late on but is 4lb lower now and has better ground too so should relish conditions and run a big race. Has been well backed last couple of days and is a cracking each way punt here.

Lightkeeper is now fulfilling what his pedigree indicated he could be capable of. He is by Walk In The Park and out of an Old Vic mare, so there is a great mixture of speed and stamina. He is improving rapidly and can take this step up in class in his stride.

James Du Berlais represents the stable of W P Mullins. In the saddle will be J J Slevin. Trainer W P Mullins has won this race 4 times since 2010, so even today the horses of his stable are among the main contenders for success. As for James Du Berlais, he was 5th at Leopardstown and at Aintree this spring, and his chances of a podium are strong.

The horse is of interest with four places for each way bets. Trainer Mullins has won this race twice in the past six runnings. This has been a good course for the horse. Its first win was here in a big field bumper, and it won again over fences on a subsequent visit. It has its ground for a big effort.

SO SCOTTISH looked like he'd been laid out for the Johnny Henderson at Cheltenham, where he'd been campaigned solely over hurdles for a full year before arriving on the big day to race over fences - that was the clue. The selection fluffed his lines that day and then connections chose to run him on the flat for a couple of runs, keeping him ticking over, before arriving here to have another crack at the big obstacles. Clearly for me, connections believe there's a good handicap chase in this horse, and with him fancied for the Johnny Henderson off a mark of 139, he has to be a bet at a similar price here, in a weaker race, off a 4lb lower mark.

This will be a likely more suitable distance for King of PR and course. Aintree is not the easiest for many. Did well winning in this grade at Fairyhouse, and he was a winner on his only previous run here at Punchestown.

An 11-time career winner who won at this Festival back in 2023 for today's rider over 1f further. Not totally disgraced at the Cheltenham Festival last time out and looks well enough handicapped to go well here.

Won a Grade 2 race in October but hasn't run as well since. Off a good mark here, and if recapturing past form, can cause a big upset today. Stable in form.

Each-way chance for Grange Walk, who recently won over the smaller obstacles. Goes off a low handicap mark and is my nap to finish in the first four.

Based off his run at the Cheltenham Festival in the Plate, Mars Harper is overpriced. He was poor at Aintree, but the runs before give him a chance of going close in this.

Mouse Morris can find a way to the frame for Indiana Jones. The gelding will be well prepared and can put in a bold show here.

FIGHTING FIT comes from a smaller yard , but represents Ireland's leading owner and is well treated as a chaser proven in recent seasons as a fresh horse. He has a talented conditional aboard who offers good value for the 5lb he is still allowed to claim and this mature type makes each-way appeal.
