Has been given a chance here. Now down to a mark of 116. This doesn't look like a deep race by any means. He's still lightly raced in handicap company. Just 2 runs to date. You can excuse both of those runs. He unseated the rider early doors on handicap debut. The ground was just too quick for him last time out. Plus, he was carrying 12st. He evidently doesn't enjoy fast ground. He prefers slower ground. He finished 2nd behind the useful Valgrand on slower ground around this time last season. Only beaten 3L by the winner. That horse ran up to a mark of 132 before passing on his most recent run, unfortunately. That form would make his mark of 116 look workable. The trainer does well when he sends his runners to this meeting. This lad is 1 of 2 runners he sends here. This lad looks to hold the best chance of those 2 horses.

Makes his handicap debut. Given a mark of 146. Kept to the minimum trip. He's lightly raced over fences. Just 3 runs to date. He bumped into one on chase debut. Beaten 6L by stablemate Majborough trying to give him 6lbs in weight. The track clearly didn't suit him. He bumped into one again next time out. Bumping into another stablemate of his in Mistergif. Beaten just over 1L. Ignore the most recent run. He pulled up having never gone a yard. He was found to have a superficial cut post-race. He does well at this venue. Form figures 221PU here. He finished 2nd in the Grade 1 bumper at this meeting back in 2023. Bumping into Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner A Dream To Share on that occasion. He drops into listed company this time. The yard clearly thinks he's better than this given he's been pitched into Grade 1 company 3 times in his career.

He's on a bit of a redemption mission here, having fallen last time out when racing far too keenly for his own good. If none the worse for the tumble, I think the handicapper has been kind here, dropping him 2 lbs from his British handicap mark. His form is rock solid in the context of this type of race. He won a Grade 2 novice back in December, beating Quebcois easily, with 5L separating them at the line. That form looks well now with the runner-up beating Jump Allen off a mark of 131 next time out. Jump Allen, in turn, won a decent handicap off 128 at Sandown this weekend just gone. His career-best effort came in the Challow Hurdle, finishing a 5L 3rd behind The New Lion. Obviously, that form has worked out well with the winner going on to win The Turners Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. If Richie and the tongue tie can keep a lid on his eagerness to travel keenly, he's got plenty to give off his current mark, despite this being an ultra-competitive handicap.

Attempts to win this race for the 2nd year running. Coming into this off the back of a solid run last time out. He won this race with any amount in hand last season, traveling into the race smoothly. Once he took up the running, he bounded on clear for a 6L success over Asterion Forlonge. He's only had 2 runs so far this season. He ran well behind Lossiemouth in the Hatton's Grace, beaten just over 3L by the winner. No disgrace there given that isn't his trip, plus he was giving 7lbs in weight to the mare. He ran a belter in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, beaten just over 1L by the winner Bob Olinger back in 2nd place. Again, no disgrace there given Bob Olinger is now 4/4 at Cheltenham. A repeat of that run would be good enough to win this race in my opinion.
