Handicapper has dropped him 1 lb for the seasonal reappearance run LTO. Armed with a much nicer racing weight in this slightly stronger race. He won this race off a 3 lb lower mark last season. He made most of the running. He was headed after making a mistake at the 3rd-last fence. He then had to sit and suffer. Waiting for room, he got a clear run. Reeled the leader back in before pulling 3 L clear of Our Power to win a shade cosily. The runner-up went on to place in both the Ladbrokes and Scottish Grand National. Clearly he's beaten a good horse there. This fella managed to place in the Somerset National LTO off a 3 lb higher mark than this, carrying 12 st in weight. He finished just 3 L behind the winner Collectors Item, back in 3rd place. He was giving 7 lb in weight to the winner, and also 23 lb in weight to the runner-up. He's not shown much since then, struggling in competitive races off a lofty mark. He's still young and unexposed.

Sits just 1 lb above his last winning mark, with the first-time visor put on today. The application of a visor is most interesting, IMO. His father sparingly uses this type of headgear, but when he does the horses usually improve a ton for them. Hopefully this can be the case with this lad. He's still a good few lbs below his peak winning mark (won the Kerry National off 142). He runs off 137 this time. He's got a bit of experience in these types of races. He's 3 lbs below the mark he ran off in this race last term when finishing a fair sixth behind Stumptown, beaten 15L by the winner. JJ Slevin is booked to ride. That also catches the eye. I think he can take this race before maybe going mighty close in the big one in March if the visor has the desired effect.
